I saved lots of money by having my Grocery shop delivered. I didn't impulse buy and used a code to get free deliver. I made a menu plan for the week and stuck with it.

I use local ethnic shops as they as much cheaper that the big supermarkets.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.
  • I started using things that were there all along, staring me in the face, but somehow over the years have been replaced with expensive alternatives - I swapped bottled water for good old tap water, and starting using the library again instead of Amazon, etc. Saving a fortune, and using it all to pay down my credit cards!

Lend your CD music from the library and put into your computer or iPod etc.

  • When I decorated my kitchen I used to go into the DIY and ask for a sample of a border that I liked.
After a few visits from me (and a friend) I had enough to do my small kitchen with.

I suppose though Nancypearl, it's not necessarily about having what you would rather have, is it :(
This is the part that is going to kill me about getting enough money together for a house and paying off our debt. I LIKE good food. Sainsburys taste the difference sausage, for example, are the best sausage I ever tasted. It doesn't mean I can afford to eat like that though, if I want a house. We have to make sacrifices, and it is possible to eat a healthy diet without purchasing the top of the range stuff.
Now, when I'm rich, I will not hesitate to shop and Marks and spencer. Yum.

Has anyone had the sausages from Aldi? they look like straight from the butchers and are bloody massive! taste delish and only cost pennies. M&S have stiff competition and i dont care who aregues against me. This is what we can afford and its still good quality. :)

  • oh tips - throw out the tumble dryer! This has saved us £30.00 a month and although it takes us longer to dry stuff its definately worth the saving with todays financial climate.

  • It's probably been said a thousand times but I'm a student at a hairdressing college & we're always wanting new clients. You get full salon treatments, fully supervised and if you go at this time of the year the majority of the students are fully trained! Most colleges have other cut-price treats too, we have a Beauty department & also a restaurant. My Mum & her friends have a full pamper day out with lunch and they usually drive in with me so no extra travel costs. For e.g. a cut & blow dry is £4.50, spray tan £8.00 & 3 course meal £3.50.

    Hi everyone,
Am new to the forums but have been reading them for a while. Posted my first post today but was directed to D.F.W, as they reckoned you'd help me more.

My other half pays most things but what I list are what I pay for.
I can only work for 12 hours as recovering from M.E.
Was doing ok up to Christmas and seem to have got lost since and can't find my way out again. Would be grateful for any advice and support I cam grab at moment!

    Hi there
I reckon would be easier and more looks if you posted this as a complete new thread on the DFW board as one of your own as may get lost on one of these threads.

I didnt want to read and run. I would have a look at CCCS or nationaldebtline both are online give them a ring or try the debt remedy online this may help you.

I wish you all the best hun
