They can not put that having a phone line the ability to make calls on it as a reason to sanction youWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Its something like £0.60 just to dial a number in a phone box

regarding owning a phone they say you must be contactable and if you dont have one you arent contactable and therefore dont qualify for dole. i think anyone who has been told similar if you have evidence then keep it. i say this because if you were ever sanctioned you could put in your appliciation for hardship that without it you wouldnt be able to pay the phone bill and that means they are preventing you from being able to keep your claim open if they refuse it.0

I think this is part of their "get tougher" policy. ie just looking for an excuse to stop your money. No actual interest in if you're looking for work or not.0 -
Just tell them you are contactable by letter and everyone has been since the first penny black was introduced.
You do not have to have a phone or internet to be contacted by DWP.0 -
I have a phone line with internet that costs me £22 a month. If I make calls this then goes up. I am contactable on it, aren't I? No one can say I am not. I just cant make calls unless someone would like to pay for them plus the VAT0
