No I didn't, I said you can't blame employers for taking a less risky option. To spell it out, getting something to put on your CV will make you less of a risk to employers. Choosing to spend 2 years+ building a gap makes you a higher risk than someone who is currently working.0 -
I think there needs to be recognition that there are very few proper full time jobs about and that whats available is often very part time, temporay and as and when.
I know a few over 50s who are very well qualified who cant get anything at all.
I think all this talk about getting tough with the unemployed is simply insulting considering many people are made redundant, have worked for years and want another job. Its easier for the government to deflect their failures.0 -

I agreed what? The fact that employers look upon the unemployed less favourably than the employed? Sure, the former are a higher risk than the latter.
I didn't say it was right, I said I didn't agree with laws to ban people giving that reason.
Yes, I don't think it is an inherent hatred against you for being unemployed. I think appearing to do nothing whilst unemployed implies a lack of effort. I think appearing to do nothing whilst unemployed implies someone might struggle with the strict nature of the workplace.
Play the victim all you want, I do not care.0 -

Struggle in the workplace? LOL Like we have never worked.

Ask any teacher what students are like the first day back from the summer holidays. People after a long gap of doing nothing fall into that habit. Some will be fine starting Monday at 9, others would struggle and take a while to get into the right mindset. All 'costs' which a recruiter doesn't have to take.
Right, so you can't even give your time away for free? Do charities hate the unemployed too?0 -
So job seeking is doing nothing?0
