Of course not, I would rather not do menial work for benefits, but I would accept that if I wanted benefits that I would need to do it.
yes but when its you who has to suffer you wont be so supportive i am sure. we have had loads of volunteers come and go coz they cant hack it. imagine if they were forced.

My opinion on whether it is fair or not wouldn't change.

You have no idea what it will be.
common sense and experience tells me it will be a minimum of 30 hours per week. they will also have to change every persons jsa agreement if it currently requires them to do jobseeking activities during the day.

    Never said it was.
then it means those who get child benefit doing a few hours for starters then doesnt it. like someone has said it will mean 85% of the population being on workfare.

You ask for courses that will enhance your employability and unless you are under 25 then there is no funding available.
    .
What I want to know is when do people lose their employability ? I am guessing its on day one after they get made redundant.

Funny how we are good for lots of things when in work and extra work yet soon as you don't have a job no one wants to know. Agencies will put a CV forward with one years exp who is in work over someone with 10 who lost their job last week! Fact.

bias? lol, i simply know how these things work. they wont be happy with people just doing 1 day per week. i would be very shocked and surprised if i turned out to be wrong.

I think you're right you do lose employability from day one. But has to be even harder after 2 years to find there are a number of barriers in your way. And I guess the WP and JC don't understand how employers see things.
  • I do 12 hours per week voluntry in an office on mondays and wednesdays and they can kiss my !!! if they think im gunna do 30+ hours for £72 a week.
