I think you're right you do lose employability from day one. But has to be even harder after 2 years to find there are a number of barriers in your way. And I guess the WP and JC don't understand how employers see things.
A barrier there is no law against like 'oh you are unemployed, we wont consider you' or 'you are over qualified and you will be bored here'. Nothing anyone wants to do about that.

Other than that they aren't any other barriers to work.

You are ridiculous if you actually want such laws.

I'm curious, what does your last 2 years look like? What does your CV say?

It's law in NY state albeit that's in the USA but still.

Ah my CV? Why would you care what it looks like?

You want to bring in an absurd rule based on personal experience. I want to know how reliable your personal experience is.

Well I can't till you answer my original question, you have been unemployed for 2 years, what does it say on your CV for that period?

There are barriers long term unemployment is the biggest one not for the propective employee but the employer.

It says I have been in the pub each day.....well after watching morning TV and the like.

What do you think it says? Oh no hang on you probably do think it says that.

I am talking when I was out of work 6 weeks I was told 'you are unemployed we cant take this further' on the phone during a telephone interview where I was asked 'where I you working now & my reply was I am not, then there was shuffling of papers and 'oh right sorry I didn't realise, erm we cant take this any further as I didn't realise you were not working'

That just escalates the longer you are out of work

I have been on the WP
    Researching a family tree
Helped a friend do up a house at the weekends
Dealing with fly tipping in my area & illegally parked cars
Excel course and some other stuff online such as databases and a Sage 50 refresher

All in between looking for a job and when I am not in the pub in my track suit after watching Jeremy Kyle on TV

So you have no formal structured activity? WP doesn't count. So to an employer you have done nothing for two years. I think you are being unreasonable and unrealistic to expect them to take a risk on you over someone who is in work or someone who is doing voluntary work or something similar.

Laws like you suggest don't work, they will just not take your application forward and won't give you a reason. Or do you want to outlaw employment dates?
