85% of UK households are in receipt of benefits. Six million of those households are pensioner ones. What, in your world, should State Pension recipients be tasked with for what they pocket?

Yawn, it is quite clear that we are not talking about pensioners. Typical clutching at straws.

As for those in work and receiving benefits, make them do some community work too. It isn't right that people can work 20 hours a week and take home more than someone working full time.

The entire system needs to be simplified and a lot of benefits just need to be abolished.

Work related activity? You mean look for a job? Why should you be given NMW for that? I don't get NMW whilst looking for a job, no one does or should.

It is not unreasonable to demand people who claim benefits to work to pay for them. There is still more than ample time to find work and better themselves.

If the unemployed were to earn their benefits how would you denigrate them then?

I’m not denigrating them. The current situation is bringing the entire system into disrepute. You can't bite the hand that feeds you and expect nothing to change. I'm trying to save the system, some are hell bent on getting everything they can and collapsing it.

And its not right that SOME people on benefits can be better off than me when I last worked 40 hours a week.

Hence now the cap on benefits for the people who get the whole shebang as you called it.

Its just that not all of us get everything that the 'public' thinks we do.

Few think you get everything, but that doesn't mean you should work a bit to pay for it. There is literally no reason for you to object. People would struggle to call you lazy scrounger if you are doing community activities.

Then why not turn your vitriol on the government, they're using your taxes to subsidize businesses paying wages people can't afford to live off.

Not few I bet its LOTS of people as they have no idea who gets what in this land as people who are long term and never worked seem to get everything

Call me what you like I know I apply for EVERYTHING and ANYTHING & I don't look like a 'lazy scrounger' thanks.

I do a fair bit for the area I live in like dealing wit the fly tipping and stopping the fly tipping in my street Getting the council to put up signs and having to get the MP on board too - that king of thing. No one else bothers!!!

20+ accounts experience is not worth anything in the UK anymore as you have idiot companies (wont name them here) who turn me down as 'you are over qualified'!

    What a load of !!!!!

People yes lots of them seem to think its easy to get a job.

Even the JC and the WP said there is nothing we can do.

How could it be me? I have held down a job till my company lost money and made 3 of us redundant

I have it in writing from over 20 companies that I have been over qualified for the roles I applied for and they wont interview me. The JC said there is nothing they can do about that.

As stated, 85% (or 17 out of every 20) UK households claim benefits. To put it another way, most UK people can not or will not lead their lives without everyone making a contribution.

If you want to stigmatise people by waving the benefit stick then you're in for a busy time. Perhaps you need to wave it at yourself and those close to you if you and they are not amongst the 15%.
