How do you think some of us 'got there' you know when we had a job?

Oh yes I remember I was working in the strand and saw a job advertised at an agency over the road for a company near Borough Market. I called up and got an interview for the consultant to see me who sent me (booked an afternoon off) straight over to the company who offered me the job on the spot. Fast forward 5 years and then I was made redundant!

One application, one interview and one job - very easy back then when I had a job.
Sure it's harder to find work when you're out of work. Harder, but not impossible as some would have you believe.

I didn;t mean you, I meant Vue Cinemas.

Anyway, I admitted I was wrong in what I said afterwards.

    Talk about selective quoting.......
Yes well maybe people should read and state what they really mean

I was no way sticking up for VUE and you would know that if you saw my reply to them!

So serious question how do you get companies to not turn you down for

1 - being over qualified if the advert is misleading and seems not to be a junior role once you have applied and got the feedback

    or

2 - you are out of work so they wont consider you even though you have hit all the criteria they are after

  • People are not trying to do the minimum as you keep repeatedly lying, people don't need your trolling

People use forums like this to find out about laws and rights that affect them, they need to know this so that the bad jobcentre and other staff cannot walk all over them
But many are. Nit picking in the extreme over every little detail that means them doing something whilst ignoring anything that means them doing less.

Nothing selective, the whole post was quoted.

Followed the thread down like you did and got here.

    Apology accepted.

There's plenty of others tip toeing around issues and saying what claimants want to hear, it not their fault, no jobs, system doesn't work, blah blah. Such pandering is unlikely to change a claimants chance of finding work. If they choose not to listen to advice that could improve their prospects because they don't like facing facts it's a bit of a !!!! for them, cutting their nose off to spite their face. The irony is, some of them hypocritically claim it's alright for those in work whilst failing to consider mirroring what they've done to be in that position.
you talk like you are all wise and knowing and claimants are complete morons.

What's your constructive advice to AP then?

You know, your never having been out of work and all
  • And it wasn't in the advert either as I said
You have just came out with yet another basic idea
Are you really so aghast an employer could advertise a position, not specify overtime in the ad and have the gall to bring it up at interview? Really? Jeez, some people eh.

Does your employer know about your posting in work hours?
    Stop your slacking, boy
Sure they do, it's one of the perks when I'm in work.
