  • reasonable expectation of flexibility would be occasional overtime. it is rarely occasional at most employers who have it. many employees want overtime but they can only have it if the employer agrees. it should work the other way around too.

Overtime I referred to felt like an obligation but overtime should be your choice not mandatory or something you are pressured into

Was it sensibleadvice who gave you that last piece of feedback?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I thought the feedback was judgmental - ie: people have been refused any chance of an interview, just because they are currently out of work (not necessarily through unemployment either).

Just struck me as something sensible advice might say if they were in HR

No it is what a lot of companies say and that's a barrier into work NO ONE can change regardless of who they are.

There is no law to stop that happening.

Your own opinion of course, but I don;t really know why you are sticking up for them.

That piece of feedback is not helping you at all; they are being lazy really in not cinsidering each application on its own merits.

Sticking up for who? Where? What are on about?

They have considered my application and picked people in work.

Oh I agree with the facing facts bit. I have no problem with your advice. Its your delivery that stinks. However, I have already pointed this out to you and you are carrying on regardless. Its a !!!!!! isn't it - trying to give out advice when the other person isn't listening :)
There's plenty of others tip toeing around issues and saying what claimants want to hear, it not their fault, no jobs, system doesn't work, blah blah. Such pandering is unlikely to change a claimants chance of finding work. If they choose not to listen to advice that could improve their prospects because they don't like facing facts it's a bit of a !!!! for them, cutting their nose off to spite their face. The irony is, some of them hypocritically claim it's alright for those in work whilst failing to consider mirroring what they've done to be in that position.

They looked and saw I wasn't working so then discounted me. Loads of companies do this as they can!

No one can stop this - that is what I am saying.

This is why many people still cant get a job!

    Yeah, you're right.

Foot in mouth syndrome. I'm rather prone to it. Speak before thinking sometimes!
