    can anyone comment on this.

I am due to leave the wp in november. Advisor tells me that job centre will expect me to look for work 30 hours a week???:(:(

how is that possible is it true?
my jc adviser is saying a couple of hours a day. the 30 hour thing is rumoured to be a new thing for universal credit. its only a rumour though. they cant time you so all they can do is put enough on your jsa agreement to take that much time to do. my 2 hours a day of stuff takes up 2 of their grey forms. so you can imagine how many forms people would need to record 30 hours of stuff.

they dont care about the companies who wants a load of people emailing and phoning them everyday. If a company has a job they will advertise it>

Yes it should be a full time job and I told mine I was anyway and she said I can see you are and that's how it should be.

It will be 35 as they expect you to treat looking for work as a full time job. Don't see how this is realistic though as you can pretty much apply for all the legit jobs within a few hours!

    .
Jobs searching and applying are two different things.

That's what working for Jobcentre/DWP does to you, you end up talking nonsense.

I don't think employers want to waste time trawling through masses of unsuitable applications, hence minimum requirements to try to deter them.
    .

I'm confused, am I meant to work for the JC/DWP?

My new job seekers agreement states that I have to look for work 5 hours per day, every day. What they actually expect for me to do for 5 hours per day in a semi rural area with hardly any jobs I am unsure. I just smiled and nodded.

Your smile may fade when at some time in the future they ask you to justify how you spent the last week job searching for five hours each day and they sanction you because you can't. Once you've signed that JSAg they've got you by the danglies! :(

Remember, nothing the jobcentre mow do is about getting you a job, it's about getting you off benefits - anyway they can.

if the requirement of a fulltime job is put on it then surely it should pay a full time income.

they would have to prove you didnt spend that time looking for work. if you said you did one app a day and nothing else they maybe able to prove it but if you say you spend hours looking at jobsearch sites how can they prove otherwise. basically if they take the p then take the p back. just ensure you fulfill your jsa agreement and record it.

But you should take it seriously. You can not just say 'oh yeah I look once a week' or 'I look for 20 mins a day'

On another note I had a telephone appointment with my advisor today and will have another in September so apart from signing on it looks like I see her or have a phone meeting with her once a month.

Also just a note you are now entitled to the 50% discount card for the tube and busses again but have to book an appointment to get the discount card.

Shame when we were only on the WP you could only get a bus discount card!
