No I never misread it. Still they are advertising where the unemployed of all lengths of time look for work. I cant see that being a problem for just a job at ASDA or all the people from the job centre applying have no chance and they have wasted the councils time, the JC and everyone who applied.
some employers arent interested in someone who has been out of work too long as they see it. the fact that it is open to everyone does not mean they would consider longterm unemployed people. they dont like gaps in work history. long term unemployment creates a gap that is hard to fill with bull***t.
i am just speculating length of time out of work as a possible reason. it may well not be anything to do with why they rejected your app.

yes they often still end up with idiots despite what they have in place to avoid that happening. this goes for all employers.

It will be 35 as they expect you to treat looking for work as a full time job. Don't see how this is realistic though as you can pretty much apply for all the legit jobs within a few hours!

As for them being able to view your account, at the moment the most they can do is mandate you to make an account and upload a searchable CV. They can't view your account without you ticking the box - there is no requirement for you to do this, although expect your advisor to bully you into submission :(

I had a call this morning from my former Work Programme provider telling me about how I can volunteer to go back to them to do something or other, told them I wasn't interested as I have obtained a full time job :) (also one in which they can't claim for, lol). They actually moaned about the fact I had stopped them claiming for all the work I did whilst attached to that horrible programme in the 'exit report'.

    Excuses.

Minimum requirements mean very little, many many people get interviews and jobs in which they do not meet the requested requirements. Minimum requirements are there just to deter people who aren't really interested in working, seems to work...
I hope you're right! I honestly never thought of it like that.
I lost my job a few weeks ago, and it seems that every single job wants lots of experience, qualifications and personal attributes that I just don't have -hence I haven't applied for them.

I'm not claiming benefits though, so nobody can blame me! lol

how do they really expect you to look for work for that many hours? I bet companies get !!!!ed off with people phoning and writing all the time. There are only so many companies for you to try?

They're making it up as they go along, advisors/offices around country saying & doing different things, talking lots of nonsense with it.

Not to mention, one job asking for certain experience is sufficient to not apply for any jobs in that industry, especially as you say the WP can help those looking for work in that industry.

That's what working for Jobcentre/DWP does to you, you end up talking nonsense.

I don't think employers want to waste time trawling through masses of unsuitable applications, hence minimum requirements to try to deter them.
