It's best just to avoid them.

They aren't unemployed, they haven't been on WP, they're not in each person's situation, they haven't seen what Jobcentre & courses are like.

They are arrogant, condescending & patronising.
And are therefore in a position to offer advice. Have therefore achieved what the unemployed want to achieve.

So what advice can you offer on the work programme? OR even what to do after it?

I bet you do not even know what happens to most on the WP, do you?

It's reasonable and justified to expect someone who's been unemployed and claiming long term without success with no improvement doing the same thing to go on courses, truing, work programmes etc. Reasonable because they've already evidenced that what they're doing isn't working so safe to say something is wrong with their approach. In that case it's also true that doing something different can't make a long term failed job seeking campaign any worse but has every chance of making improvements.

    But this assumes that:

    A) Work schemes such as the Work Program are effective. they are not. They are a multi-billion pound waste of money and an utter disgrace. Evidence shows that the WP is actually no better and indeed WORSE than leaving jobseekers to their own devices.

    B) That some jobseekers have actually not sought to do things directly, differently and indeed to use an over used phrase "think outside the box". Those that have have often been hindered and not helped by the JC and WP.

A jobseeker may not be allowed to partake a certain course of their own choosing as they may be told it interferes with their jobsearch. Even though it increases a jobseekers chances of gaining skills and qualifications. Whilst someone on the WP for example may be told that a certain course is not availble due to lack of funds. And yet we're told the WP is supposed to be a "tailored" form of support.
  • whatever the case maybe it doesnt change the fact that the purpose of this thread was for people to talk about their experiences and offer support to each other.
Does that include personal experiences of those sat on the other side of the interview desk? The ones who can offer support in finding work? Or is it restricted to like minded negative mindsets?

Just because someone is alive & breathing & employed does not mean they are qualified to offer advice to other people.

So that's clear then. Please do explain the difference.

Wow, really? I mean I don't know how I could be any clearer.

When I had a job and had never been out of work ever (over 25 years) & I never could have guessed the 'help' on offer was so lame. I think unless you have been out of work recently you have no idea.

You live in an idealised world.

You have no experience of dealing with unemployed or long term unemployed face to face.

You know little or nothing about the people and their approach.

You have dismissed their comments on things they have first hand experience of which you don't.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Your generalised advice does not match your username and is generally useless.
They're my views based on what's posted.

Perhaps you'd explain what you do and how are you're qualified to know better?

Where do you think this supposed negativity comes from? Being out of work maybe? IF you have worked for 25 years and then suddenly have no job its not a joyful experience that's for sure. A few people even kill themselves as they are 'so negative'.
What's posted on here is real negativity IMO, probably from being out of work or in some cases from wanting to remain out of work. Some, as you say have worked for a long time and found themselves out of work. Others have been out of work for years and are finding it more difficult to merely turn up and collect every 2 weeks. It's a tough world and IMO faux utopia helps no one.
