Admin? I was sure it was accounts
Do you work in accounts?
I have 20 years experience in purchase ledger and my roles were never junior. All were sole responsibility or the senior team leader.
I manage a distribution facility with £20m turnover. HO AP staff are articulate, numerate and experienced in the relevant systems. But their position is relatively junior and comparable with other admin roles such as procurement.
ETA, Just noticed they were asking for experience with SAP, did you expand on your experience on this?0 -

You obviously don't have AP staff who manage a payment run on their own of over £30 million a year then if they are junior to name just one duty.
If a job advert asks for a particular accounts system and I have used it I make sure that's in the first paragraph of my cover letter.
The advert says 'SAP system experience preferable' so although I don't have it I have experience with the following
Agresso, Sage Line 50,Sage Payroll, Pegasus Opera & Senior, SUN Accounts, Tetra 2000, Mentor,Microsoft Dynamics Navision (at the training/testing stage)
The advert also says 'Experience in an accounts team' and the reply to me from the company was they wanted someone with relatively no experience and probably someone looking for their first accounts job.
No where does it say this in the advert.
This is just one example of a job that says too much experience wont work for them. She said the job would be no good for my career! What career? I don't have one!

From the ad I interpreted the job to be pretty much as they described it to you.0 -

With the habitually unemployed, though, we aren't talking about "most people". We've already selected a group who are far from normal by that point.
I also susppect that some of the negative posters on here genuinely don't realise how they come across.0 -

I am not an accountant however looking at the list of roles I have to agree they sound fairly junior and I am quite confident I could do them with a bit of training. HOWEVER we then get to this bit A degree and/or strong A-Level results (A-C grades) in numerical subjects this to me then stops it being a junior role.
Serious question do employers now need degrees or strong A levels for the junior positions? It highlights a flaw in my CV I don't even have A levelsdoes this mean I now won't even be considered for junior roles  I am aware of this shortcoming and like I said earlier I asked the JC if I could do a college course but was told no. The JC are only interested in people obtaining the equivalent A-C GCSE in maths and english. I already have these but I don't think its enough these days and it seems you are not allowed to better yourself more

Where I need, if you want to join the graduate training scheme, I'd expect a strong degree in a good subject from a top university.
That said the graduate program is intended to train those who'll one day go on to senior positions, so it is not recruitiing people to a life-long juior role. On the other hand, is that not the case for most professional jobs nowadays?I asked the JC if I could do a college course but was told no.
I don't understand this bit; the job centre do not give out college courses, colleges do. The job centre can no more stop you getting further qualifications than they can tell you who to go out with. You need to speak to the colleges direct.0 -

You've hit the nail on the head here. The way some of these posters talk is utterly depressing to read.
I suspect when recruiters are scouring through hundreds of applications these posters aren't able to excite or grab the readers attention as they exude negativity.0
