I don't understand this bit; the job centre do not give out college courses, colleges do. The job centre can no more stop you getting further qualifications than they can tell you who to go out with. You need to speak to the colleges direct.
Yes I know I did arrange the course in with the college. It was because the course was in the daytime I had to ask the JC permission. It wasn't a full time course it still left time to allow for job seeking but I was told I wasn't allowed to do itI did say that if I found a job whilst on the course I was fully prepared to give up the course but that didn't help. To be honest if I had never mentioned it to the JC they wouldn't have even known!! (but I suspect I would have been in trouble if they found out so not a risk I would ever take) I had told the college my circumstances and they were aware I might have to miss a few sessions due to JC appointments and were ok with that.
You are right in the fact if I did an evening course the JC would have no right to say how I spent my evenings. Its a real shame as the college held the same course over two evenings per week but unfortunately I could not find anyone to baby sit for me. I can understand that, its a big commitment to agree to baby sit for two full evenings every week for a year.0 -

no they wont.:footie:0 -
i dont like the way this thread has gone from a thread for people to talk about their post wp experiences to pretty much another thread attacking the unemployed.0

So how about thinking of a a solution to each and every barrier that is
your problem, preventing you from getting a job instead of moaning and blaming systems etc? That might see you move forward.
Those who are negative and can't be arsed..expect the same and sanctions from those trying to help. After all why should they care about an individual who doesn't care and has no respect for themselves?0 -

That involves exploring the fundamental reasons why you're not finding work and considering that before anything will change you most likely need to change one or several things.
Of course many people will avoid hearing unpleasant truths because it's not what they want to hear and the status quo will remain.0 -

You are right in the fact there probably needs to be a 'general chit chat' thread but you need to have comments/responses from 'the other side' otherwise the thread is pointless, a thread with everyone agreeing with each other and moaning is not constructive. As long as no one is rude/abusive (which I haven't seen any evidence off) then I think its good to hear all points of view.0 -
With the habitually unemployed, though, we aren't talking about "most people". We've already selected a group who are far from normal by that point.
I also susppect that some of the negative posters on here genuinely don't realise how they come across.0
