The thing is, with the best will in the world, and while not agreeing wiith other pposters that the staff are "rubbish", there's only quite a small subset of jobs that go anywhere near the job centres. This means that not only do you not get to see most jobs there, but the staff will not be very familiar with many sorts of jobs either.

For most decent jobs, you need to find a different route.

I realise that I don't just look at the JC jobs I look at a lot of sites and write/email spec letters. I am not getting anywhere this tells me that there is something wrong with the approach I am taking or something wrong with my CV. I have been on courses and had my CV looked over and told it is all fine, it is obviously not otherwise I would have got a job or at least more interviews.

I have to say if I was an employer I wouldn't want my vacancy advertised on UJM. I spoke to one employer and told them I had seen their role advertised on UJM, they could not hide their shock at this :rotfl: they had advertised on a specialist site but UJM must have picked it up and put it on their site. I don't think that employer will be using that particular specialist site anymore :rotfl:

I had a similar experience with my last employer.
I told him I had seen the job advertised on two different websites which came to a complete surprise to him because he said he had only advertised in the local Gazette newspaper.:D

I was a Buyer. Which means I am quite capable of doing a general administrative role/reception work etc

In my younger, and more tender years, I naively assumed that if you wanted a job that you went to the Job Centre. I'd simply never been told that it was such a small, specific subset of jobs that were ever advertised there. I wanted to be a professional physicist, and could not understand why there were hundreds of jobs for waiters, delivery drivers, and factory workers, but not a single one for radar engineers, surgeons, or high-energy particle physics researchers.

If I found myself out of work nowadays, I'd understand that, for me, there is simply no point in going anywhere near the benefits system, the job centre, or any form of government scheme.

Lots of sites are re posting job adverts without the permission of the advertiser. They are very shocked to know their adverts are on UJM.

I'm genuinely curious to know what it is about some on here that makes them so unattractive to employers. Obviously a few simply do not want to work (they've even posted about deliberately failing interviews), but there also seem to be plenty who simply don't understand how the world of employment works.

I'm also in disbelief at this. I see posters on here who have 14-15 posts a day, all of which seem to be written in a reasonable standard. I can't help wondering how they manage to remain unemployed for so many years. When I was off University for the summer, each year I would go to 5 or 6 agencies and tell them I would work whatever they could find me. I worked in chocolate factories, cleaning, gardening and waste disposal during this time. Of course I didn't enjoy these jobs, they were long hours and low pay, but this provided me the funds to get by.

It logs jobs you apply for that send your stored CV just not jobs that do not allow applications via the stored CV

Create your own log? You mean the log (sheet or booklet) we already keep for the JC? :rotfl:

I really do wonder about your attitude...

I have read many of your posts, and you really give off the impression you know better than anyone else. This is a perfectly valid suggestion to create a log for yourself. This way you can identify trends in your results so you can see where you would have the best chance of applying for future roles. If you spent less time posting sarcastic, obnoxious posts on here and put this effort into serious job hunting you may be a lot better off.

As stated I have a log a fully comprehensive one.

I spend over 50 hours week looking for work actually and I know what the trends are.

I wonder how I got an interview next week if I am not seriously job hunting.............

Why do you think you are so unsuccessful at actually getting yourself back into work, then? YOu seem to be going through the motions OK, but I get the impression that it's been weeks, or even months, since you worked.

Have you worked out where you are going wrong yet?
