Others would say the 'system' obviously doesn't work. The state of the country backs that up.
The country's actually doing pretty well. We are the sixth biggest economy on earth, with the sixth biggest manufacturing output. We have a good free education to 16, a very good health service, free at the point of use, and a world-renowned system of universities. We also have a reasonably low GINI coefficient of inequality, and one of the world's better benefit systems.
It may not be perfect, and there is always room for improvement, but there are very few places where you have a better chance of making a decennt life for yourself if born working class. You should not be fooled by the stories on here into thinking that the UK is not a land of opportunity.0 -

Donna has already acknowledged a work around not being able to add a cover letter.
I apply for jobs on the UJM that are 3rd party adverts that are on other sites I have accounts on and still no interviews.
Knock back 2 days ago as the job was for a junior yet the job advert said 'Accounts Experience Needed' so no way of really knowing the woman mean NO experience needed as her reply stated to me when I asked for feedback. Job centre can not do anything about this or the ones where they say 'you are not working so we cant help you' (agencies).
The site has jobs on it, so what? So does Reed, Monster, Cityjobs, Totaljobs and there is no power to get anyone an interview even when you meet the criteria they are looking for. We’ve had to remove your signature. How would being able to explain to a JC advisor how to use UJM in under 15 seconds mean I wasn't bothered about finding work?0 -
There are lots of jobs advertised everywhere and applying for them wont get you a job as easily as you seem to think.
I don't really agree with that. I don't know anyone that's taken more than a month or two to get back into a good job after being let go, unless they were particularly chooosy about what they wanted and decided to hold out a bit longer for exactly the right role.
Family and frineds in the North East have always managed to find jobs within days, if not hours, of being told that they were being let go.
Anyone out for longer than this should be workinng out what it is that they are not offering, when so many others don't have this problem. They need to lok at succesful candidates, loook at themselves, and spot what's different.
They certainly should not rely on anyone else doing it for them, or on anyone else finding them a role.0 -

again 6 months using it and no job offer does not mean i dont know how to use it.0 -

This is true. Advisor is evil.:footie:0 -
well had to put up with tons of annoying paperwork today on my first day. had to go through the usual humiliation of the literacy and numeracy tests. the people seem ok but they do decieve. someone asked if they got paid if we get a job and they said yes. they then got asked do we tell you if we get a job even if we get it ourselves. the response was yes. they said its so they know we wont be attending anymore. i thought yeah right, its so you can claim credit for it more like. if i get a job i will sign off and say nothing to them unless it was them who got me the job. got to go in thursday and friday which is a pain but they seem to be flexible and will work around my voluntary work and we dont have to be there everyday.0
