I signed on yesterday and was told to resume my once fortnightly attendance as the post work programme has finished for me :)

Looks like I've got out of doing the work experience as well ;)

So you ended the WP 6 months ago?

What has the jc been doing for you in this time?

i didnt have to have a reason. mine is monday to friday, earliest start time 8am, latest finish time 6pm and maximum of 8 hours per day. on saturday i have 8am to 12noon, 4 hours work and nothing at all for sunday. i do rely on public transport and have a health condition that means i cant do nights. these issues wouldnt stop me having an earlier start time or later finish time than i have.

    What about travelling time

The travel time is not included in the agreed times so if the sheet states 8am then you are agreeing to starting out at 6.30am earliest (to allow for the max 90mins travel time)

Finished in July and I've been on the post work programme since. Been seeing the advisor at least once every other week since. Which included constant threats of having my money stopped. I somehow got all the way through the thing, without being sent on any daft courses too.

Apparently it was only a "pilot scheme". Sounds to me like the thing cost too much money to run.

The thing is there is no "scheme" just sign on and lucky to see an advisor once a month. I have seen mine 3 times since July.

  • Hi One and All. :D

I finished the Work Program, 5 weeks ago! In the space of two years, I had very little help. Saw an adviser once every two weeks for the first 10 months of the course, from then on. I only saw an adviser 6 times in the remaining 14 months. In this time, they change advisers (sacked) them, move people around.
Since leaving the program, I've learned the center has shut down and relocated to Durham! I wasn't given an exit interview for this very reason! (i'm guessing)

Since signing back on, I've seen a job centre adviser 3 times. Very helpful but very bossy. She decided I should do production work and put that at the top of my jobs sheet.

She's now talking of putting me in for 'work experience' To help get some current experience on my CV.
I've previously worked for 6 months, 8am-6pm, for no pay through the jobcentre when I was trying to get an apprenticeship. I never thought of been out of pocket, I was looking at the end goal. Which didn't happen.

So, Can I ask. If they decide its the best option for me. What will they do? Stick me in a charity shop, or? Or will I have i choice to work somewhere i want, and is there various employment sectors open to me. Or will I get given, what they deem is necessary.
I feel like signing off, nothing wrong with charity shops, but I'm not a socialite person.
One of my ideal jobs has came up twice, when I was on the work programme and they did nothing to help. I know it sounds strange, but I love the outdoors type job. It was for a squirrel ranger in northumberland. I'm not a deranged nut :D but I can't stand been cooped up!

    thanks
    Androo
