usually when the part to do with limiting hours is left blank it means you are not limiting what hours you are willing to work at all. unfortunately some advisers are very keen for people to not limit their hours at all. one adviser i had asked why cant you start before 7.30am. i said because i rely on public transport. he said well we know that so theres no need for a limit on your hours and he wiped it. the next time i saw an adviser who looked at the agreement i asked if i could reinstate the limits and he said yes. personally i choose to limit my hours to retain some power from them. i would actually take a shiftwork job if it was right for me.

Should he not have asked me what hours i was available though. How do i stand with a blank agreement.

They wont ask you as you are suppose to be available all hours unless you have a valid reason for not being so, having to rely on public transport or caring for children for example

It is still sneaky on his behalf not telling you and not explaining what it meant.

Next time you go I would ask them to look at it again then and tell them the time times you can travel from and to. I suppose what they will say is "but a job may come up near where you live in walking distance"

Thats what they say to me about my restricted hours. I am allowed to restrict them to my sons schools hours but they start the time he starts school, I was told the reason is I can work from then as the job might be near the school so no travel time, unless I actually get a job at the school he attends then that is never going to happen.

As there are not many jobs within my hours, I have now been told I have to apply for full time anyway.

He can ask, you can tell him, but he may not agree.

There should also be a box (above day/time boxes) that you have or have not agreed to restrict hours, that should be ticked.

My hours were left as blank as they told me accounts people work 24 hours a day!! LOL

This was 2 years ago when I went to the WP. No hours changed since then and they are still blank.

If that was a serious question (it can't be, can it?) then people can generally tell that they are employed or not by checking if they have a job.
