Supposedly post work programme support but I don't feel it's supportive and I have been told I get to do yet another forced labour period

It's probably better for you in the long run to get out of the house and do some labour than to not. One of the problems long-term unemployed have is losing touch with the sort of behaviour and attitudes that are needed in the workplace, so doing anything at all, including picking up litter, or just turning up somewhere on time, can help.

Hopefully the government is going to keep making more and more changes in this direction, as it helpps no-one to pay people and then allow them to sit at hme, or watch television.

I think that the days of getting something for nothing on benefits are slowly coming to an end, and that this is generally a good thing.

people are paid to going work so it's not something for nothing
On the other hand there's no condemnation from you and too many others of the companies that get forced labour and do profit something for nothing
  • Plus it takes away time that is better spent jobs seeking

how stereotypical that you think that jobseekers stay at home and watch television. Shows what you know. Alot of them already do voluntary work without being asked to do it. That actually saves the government money.

Jobseekers arent getting something for nothing. They are getting money to live on which they need to survive. What does the government want people stealing, people begging, people dying. People living on the streets in droves. Is that the kind of place you want to live in. It wouldnt look good on the government either if that happened. In fact there would be uproar and they know that.

Think about what you are saying abit more. As for forced labour. If a private company wants a member of staff then pay them dont expect them to work for nothing and then not be offered a job at the end of it.

Its companies and the government taking advantage of the unemployed. It was on the news recently about a woman who won her case against Poundland. :D

This post is a joke, how do you know JSA Claimants sitting down all day watching tv or taking drugs? you don't know anything so keep your nasty comments to yourself in future or do you work for Jobcentre? I won't be surprised if you do.

And to correct you, we not getting money for nothing as everytime we sign on we need to provide proof of Jobseeking and if we don't show them that we are active looking for work then we loose our JSA, that's what we do in return for our Jobseekers so get your facts right.

How would you like it if your on JSA (that's if you are already on) and keep getting a hard time by your advisor and if you fail then you could loose your money, you wouldn't like it would you?

So show some respect and stop treating all JSA Claimants with the same brush attitude.

btw us who are on Jobseekers need money to live on, unless you want to see us starving and end up homeless?

i told him that doing voluntary work dosent get you a job. I actually already do voluntary work one morning a week and its never lead to a job!
tell them you have found something and just do it where you are at now. they may not be impressed with just 1 morning so do 1 or 2 days. or at least consider saying you do. it is upto you if you say that of course coz it is fibbing.

do you think you gain more by providing free labour to companies out of your taxes?

Was told at the JC today they are going to start asking everyone if they have a UJM account. Asking for peoples email address that they have signed up with to check (not sure how they do this)

Also that they CAN NOT make you give them access I overheard them say to the girl in front of me.

I now have set up an account but a few thing..............

1 - There is nowhere for a cover letter to be added
2 - CV losses ALL format when loaded
3 - No application history for jobs applied for on other sites
4 - No history of your search activity

Also for the people who have accounts. When you apply to a job direct on the site how does your CV get sent to the employer?

Is it like LinkedIn where they just see your profile or they get a copy of the CV you have loaded at the time?

I ask this as you would have maybe 2 different CV's that you may want to use so if they just see your profile they could get the wrong CV.

There was one well known retail discount store on there and they wanted someone for 30 hours a week unpaid. Beggars belief.

That's the thing, whilst you get to nominate which CV to send from what I've managed to gather an employer gets an email and does or doesn't even have to click 'viewed' in recognition - I've clicked on the Request feedback' button before now that doesn't seem to have any effect either - anything you send can basically be ignored but the beauty is can they really deny receiving once it is in your 'application history'? that's how I see it

I had 2 CV's on mine so you can chose specific CV to send if nothing else, employers won't see a profile just whichever CV you chose, interestingly if you ever change your email address on UJM it can lead to problems with JC accessing :D or should that be warning maybe, because UJM doesn't update from when you do so they at Jobcentre could be looking at a really old typeface of your account so I can see that being one route to sanction !!!!! You've probably done the right thing not having an account until now! so many other CV sites are miles ahead

I think if somebody has advertised on the Jobcentre website their not really worthy of a cover letter! bad I know! oh well it hasn't stood me in bad stead yet!
