ditsykitchen wrote: »I'd recommend trying out making rice milk at home with value rice. It's tasty, cheap and you can make it as thick/thin as you like. It can separate in coffee but I've read that adding sunflower seeds prevents this. Can't vouch for that as i haven't tried it.
As for the treats, bourbon biscuits are vegan
What are you using honey for at the minute? I find agave's really expensive but a good alternative would depend on what it's for.
Would love to read your blog if you start one!
Good idea about the rice milk ditsy, thanks. I've bought a carton for now, just to see how I get on, and to be fair, it isn't separating. However it tastes gross, so I'm only using a teeny bit! My age old problem with leaving stuff to soak etc, is if I get stuck in work or anything - I end up wasting stuff. It's also why I gave up using the slow cooker.
I'm ignoring the bit about bourbons... don't need to know unhealthy treats!!! :rotfl:
And honey I only use in recipes, so it's not a big expense, I just always used to keep some in the cupboard. I have now purchased agave syrup instead, but I imagine, like the honey, I'll use it so rarely.
My blog is now in my sig... Not a lot in there yet!
Thanks!

You may want to look at http://agirlcalledjack.com/ as a lot of her recipes are vegan, and i can recommend her Apricot curry, it's yummy! I added some red lentils to mine as a extra too.
I'd love to read your blog about it, if you start one.
I adore Almond milk too, it's super yummy! However I've found it separated terribly in coffee..? What's your secret?!
I've seen that blog before, will definitely bookmark it, thanks! And apricot curry sounds really different, thanks for the recommendation!

I do my main food shops online and typically shop according to whats in my favourites so if something I buy regularly is on offer, I see it my duty to buy lots despite having numerous tins of ? already stockpiled. This puts money in the supermarket's coffers and empties my bank account yet I repeat and could earn a gold medal for my efforts. :rotfl:
I itemised my cupboards yesterday and whilst there were not too many surprises, (I had a sort out the other week) I was reminded how many jars of relish/chutney that I have! and then I went into my junk room where excess food gets stored and found several tins of beans....
I've had a food shop today and as per usual I've got carried away and spent more than I intended.
If I stopped having tea in my milk and stopped being fussy then I could probably get away with buying nowt for the rest of the month. I doubt this will happen though.
I'm a bit like this too. Only normally buy offers of stuff I would buy anyway, or stuff I want to try that is normally full price.
I did my first online shop today at Asd* which came to £51.81.
Also DD went to Mr M for me to get value penne pasta for tuna and pasta (as the other types I have in aren't suitable). She also got some loo roll for me from One St*p as cheapest and nicest quality locally.
Total spend is £53.67 which I will try to add now to sig (on mobile).GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £123.74/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Not done this for over a year, and I have soooo over spent. Need to get finances back in order and plan for Christmas, so need to join here again and stick to it. Going to try and post every day, to give me the inventive. Please put me down for £250 for the month. Bit optimistic for self, DH, 3 hungry teenagers and a German Shepherd, but god loves a trier.£2015 in 2015 (Although actual goal is £10 a day)0

It depends how much chicken you have left over and how much you want to eek it out.
If I have a lot of it then just chicken in gravy, but if not so much you can add sweetcorn or mushrooms or mixed veg. All make a very tasty pie filling.
I just use a shortcrust pastry for mineSlimming World at target0 -

First spend of the month - £20.66 in MrA - some things for school lunches, few smart price things to try, etc.
We've some smoked bacon left so that will become partly tomorrow's tea (in a pasta sauce or bubble and squeak) and partly Tuesday's in a fridge bottom soup. Got some ancient bread mix to use up, so hope it works! Might add a tad more dried yeast to make sure.
