First spend of the month yesterday. Did our first weekly shop as we had literally nothing in so it came to approx £58.00 ( lost receipt!!) in Mr T. Then I spent £2.00 at £land on toiletries. So £60.00 altogether. Should only need milk and fresh bits from the super 6 the rest of week.
Been busy today batch cooking to make it easier after work this week. I've made a Lentil Shepherds Pie, a batch of lentil sauce for eating with pasta, and currently have a mince batch cooking in SC for a lasagne and a chilli con carne. OH picked the rhubarb so have a rhubarb cobbler made for pudding which should do tomorrow as well. Also made Mushroom soup for lunch and a portion left for DD's lunch tomorrow. Have plenty of meals I can make from my cupboards as well so pretty much sorted for a week anyway.
Menu plan meals on no particular day:
Lasagne peas and chips
Chilli Con carne and Rice
Lentil shepherds pie and runner beans from garden
Lentil bolegnese and green salad from garden
HM Pizza and baked beans
jerk spiced bratwurst pasta bake
Cauliflower and chickpea curry and rice and naan
Caldo verde
Macaroni cheese and salad.
ATM I have everything to make all these meals:T so just need to stay super organised.

Hello Flat Eric, I remember asking the same question
I get a lot of Yellow Sticker stuff and bung it in the freezer, I tend to go about an hour/hour and a half before closing, to get the best bargains.
Hope you can give it a go, good luck.0 -

Ahh I see. Thanks :T0 -
My first grocery shop of the September challenge. DH went to Ald* with a list I had done earlier as I was working today. Bless him, I snapped that I didn't like the bread he had bought then felt bad immediately. I shall have to find a way to make it up to him.
So he spent £38.51 which is great and will see me through the week with what is already in the cupboards and freezer, and probably a bit beyond as well.
We're also making an effort to use things up so yesterday I made two banana loaves with decomposing bananas. Just had a slice with a cup of tea. Delish! I had a little bit of cooked brown rice in the fridge so I added that to yesterday's spiced carrot & courgette soup. It added a bit of substance to it. Step-son wasn't too keen when he saw it at first. He can be a really picky eater but he tried it and his dish came back clean. We have a glut of courgettes at the moment so almost every meal is 'spot the courgette'.
DH used up the last of a loaf that was a bit dry for beans on toast at lunchtime for the three of them so that was good too. I always feel like I have failed if I have to throw food away. We will be donating two marrow-sized courgettes to his work colleagues on Monday, there really is only so much courgette we can eat.
I'm wondering if I have set my budget too high this month, but I didn't really have much of a feel for it so I'll see how it goes and maybe cut it down a bit next month.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Hi everyone,
After a smashing August we are cautiously reducing our target to £400 this month.
Good luck all!!CC debt £2,528.65/£31,193.22 - Slowly plugging away0 -
My first post! Been lurking for a long time, but I need to be more organised both at home, at work and with our money, so hopefully this challenge will help!
We are a large family - 2 adults, 4 children aged 10,12,14 and 17 plus 3 cats and a large dog! we also entertain quite a lot too.
Please put me down for £360 for the month commencing 1st Sept. This includes toiletries, cleaning products and all pet foods.
Thanks
