I put mine on the side for a few hours and then move to the fridge overnight. I usually make sure it's out of the fridge for a couple of hours before it goes in the oven. That said, I believe the 'safest' way is to defrost in the fridge for 24hours!

ordered another asda with free delivery. not a huge shop but a very good top up. im not a few pounds OVER budget for the month....however that did include a meal out which was nearly £20.00 that I wouldnt normally do.

only things i should need to buy before end of month is bread....im hoping for some NSD as ive only had 2 this month!
I am pleased though as this was my first month at this challenge and ive spend A LOT less than normal and I am starting to think about what I buy.
Looking forward to next month to do better

I am also defrosting a big chicken in the fridge for tomorrows sunday dinner....and i would have normally thrown it away. the date on it is June it should be ok right??

It is a cheap Al.. egg. I use a small saucepan - bring about 1 1/2 inches water to boil - crack in egg - turn down to simmer - cook 3 minutes.

Spend of £1 on milk today.
For dinner we had a YS Waitflower cheese/onion pasty - Mr G fetched home + roast sweet potato + roasted red onion, red pepper, white onion, tomatoes.
533 calories in the pasty - we shared it.
Off to write out my menu plan.

Oh Bless, thinkI am in shock, you would normally throw it away .

It will be fine, food doesn`t go off in the freezer, thou it may get something called freezer burn, but you will know as it goes grey and looks really nasty.

Right off to get a Brandy to recover now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Spends now gone up to £147.07
I have some stewed apple in the freezer done at least 4 years ago and its fine. Its in plastic containers and is great for crumbles etc. I also have a piece of turkey in that was from Christmas and some pork. If its stored correctly you can leave stuff far far longer than it says with no problems.
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • Ive spent spot on £5 today on Quorn sandwich meat (three packs), apples and bananas. Then when nearly home I realised id forgotten toilet roll so went to nearest shop and picked up Andrex on offer for £1.75 (I wouldnt normally spend this much on loo roll but was cheaper than the stores own bar economy) and pepsi cans also on offer as DD2 was thirsty and needed to rest at this point whilst I backtracked (again was cheaper than a cheap drink bought alone)

So £7.72 spent. Think I will be over again this month ... sigh!!!

  • been absent for a while. Sorry :-)

    £80 to add, so now 288.18 / 300

That's a Tesc0 top up, a visit to the farm shop for a huge sack of potatoes, and their super fresh sweetcorn and a Ald1 weekly shop today for £40.

Made a foray into baking today, with the intention of making a carrot cake, but got a request for vienese whirls - gulp - but although the shapes are a little erm, shall we call it modern art ?! I'm impressed with the results.

Meals planned for the week. Pasta bake with left over chicken from today planned for tomorrow. Also making stock as I type, so soup for the freezer tommorow as well.

Baby step, but finally finally finally got OH on board with it, whoop whoop :-) Next month will be better :-D
