DD rang to say she was coming to finish fitting the kitchen, so we now have doors on all the cupboards in the kitchen, just need to get some new handles, brushed steel I think would look quite nice. I brought a support bracket which we do not need, so will be getting a refund on that. Also got the big pine mirror up in the hall at last, so apart from the wall unit which will replace the dresser we have finished....................phew....................
I do want to ask if we can get a shower fitted, OH cannot sit down in the bath, has to kneel otherwise he cannot get out again, I can manage to get out if I turn onto my knees.................
Funny sort of day, its quite cool out rather overcast..............not a lot of air about really................
Need to go and give my elderflower a stir and sort out something for supper, may be fish and chips.......took some beef out for tomorrow, beef casserole coming up.
Kettles boiling off for a cuppa.........................
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

    Afternoon Guys!

Feeling loads better and have actually eaten a lovely lunch of a Ham rice salad:D Washing is drying out on the line, DW emptied and toilet cleaned.

DD is cooking dinner tonight. She has offered to cook on a Wednesday each week as she feels she should be pulling her weight a little more around the house;) DD has helped out with dinner before and can make basic stuff for herself or OH & I, but tonight she is making Lamb Chops, Roasties, Yorkshires & Veg:eek:    She is even peeling the spuds, which she hates!

OH has a PA meeting tonight....just an excuse for him to have a nice glass of wine and [STRIKE]chat up [/STRIKE]talk to all the mums:rolleyes:....and possibly talk about school stuff. Im sure you know what I mean MATH:D ;):p :rotfl:

    Hugs to all.

Butter making is amazingly easy, if you have a food processor. There is an excellent description with pictures on this website http://www.cookingforengineers.com/article/113/Making-Butter

    In principle:

Buy some double cream (when on offer, or from a cash and carry). Leave it out of the fridge for about 6 hours. Pour it into your processor. Whisk.

It'll thicken, and then suddenly it will splosh all over the place as it separates into butter and buttermilk. Pour off the buttermilk (it's fab in pancakes and bread), whisk a bit more, pour off the buttermilk.

Now you need to wash the butter to get rid of the remaining buttermilk. If you don't get rid of the buttermilk then the butter may go rancid. I use a rubber spatula to scrpae the butter into a big bowl, pour on cold water, and then knead it. Pour off the cloudy water, and add fresh. do this a few times until the water stops being cloudy.

And now you have your butter, which you can pot and freeze.

I like to make salted butter, so I just scrape the washed butter back into the processor bowl, add salt, and whisk it for a few mins. For garlic butter, just add crushed garlic.

I freeze it in four ounce blocks.

    Hope that helps

Afternoon all and :bdaycake: Happy Birthday justamum !

Had a lovely relaxing morning. My husband has been weatherproofing the shed and I've been 'supporting' him on a sun-lounger - until I dropped off through sheer exhaustion! :rotfl:

Don't think he was totally impressed - particularly as he had to go off to do an evening shift this afternoon! I will have to make it up to him at some point.
Not as exciting a day as tinkerbelluk - very impressive mixing with royalty! ;) Enjoy the rest of the day everybody. I've got to nip to Post Office to post a book I've sold on Amazon before picking little one up from school.

    Take care. xx

Thank you so much Hazel - will try it your way I think rather then the cream in a jar and shake it all about way :rotfl: I will see if there is any reduced cream tonight in Mr T's.

Well tonight is first proper OS night - in the oven there are 2 HM pizzas and a load of HM potatoe wedges and we have strawberries for afters.

Jo_B - What is it with watching other people work tat is so exhausting !!! I am the same - if I watch anyone work too hard I fall asleep but if it is me working hard I just keep going

PP - Lucky you having DD cook tea !!! Can't wait until my 2 are old enough - though I am starting them early and teaching them the basics of cooking - I let the school do the stuff like reading and writing (apart from when they have home work) and at home I try and tech them all the other stuff like cooking, cleaning, DIY, gardening and other things that will help when they finally leave home - this is how I was bought up and it doesn't seem to have done me any harm :D

    Hope everyone is ok.

    Hi All
Well what's the latest with these blasted fonts etc! If I have the same problem tonight Martin will be getting an e-mail!!!

By the way this is my second time trying to post - forgot to do a save before I backtracked to check something out! Silly old me!!!

DLB - hope your tactics have paid off if no sign of ICM today. I just loved the strategy of your and friends' attack!

CrazyC - you sound a bit brighter today when I checked up on your earlier!

PennyP - hope the pain is easing now you have had second morphine jab. Glad to hear DD doing dinner tonight. My DD used to love doing us stirfrys until the wok went up in flames (only weeks after the kitchen had been decorated!!!!). She has never wok cooked since!

Justamum - hope you are having a lovely birthday. By the way, (not being cheeky), but no-one is just a Mum!!!!

(just done a wee copy just in case!)

Ladygrim - not an easy day for you today. Hope all goes well. Hopefully you can start to move forward.

Tinkerbelle - well, you dark horse, you never said you were pals with Charlie Boy! Great pictures!

Aussie - hope news from home isn't going to spoil rest of your visit.

    (another copy just in case!)

See we have some poorly posters and some with poorly little ones (or not so little ones). Hope things are improving.

Have probably missed out a huge load of folk who I looked at this morning but hey, I have had a (busy) hard day at work on the internet buying stuff from Mothercare!

Spoke to DD this morning and she thought she was on her way last night. Very sore back, upset tummy and the old BH contractions! Phoned her before leaving work and my friend's daughter (DDs bridesmaid) is there and she had totally taken control and DD had a 2-hour sleep! She is so grateful. Plan was for a tea-time picnic at the beach before bed for the boys.

My appointment with Occupational Health this morning was a farce. As expected, information to Adviser from Personnel wrong! She accepted my version of events when given my signed flexi sheet covering the period in question. No further action required but I am quite tempted to fire off a rather strong e-mail to Personnel. I know there has to be monitoring in place but when you see someone has been off for nearly 3 weeks with first cold and then chest infection don't you put 2+2 together and think - Oh dear it was more than a cold! Of course the trigger was when DGS1 was sick all over me just after I went back to work. I forgot, you lot can back me up! I posted all about my woes in February. How far back can I go on this site? Maybe I should get you all to bombard Personnel with e-mails of support!

Well - guess what just as well I had saved you all - everything disappeared when I answered phone!

I have the typing sh@@@ tonight - I am going to need a page to myself!

Phone call from DD and the tears are running down my face! At the beach they found a little duckling on its own in the sea. Waiting round and no sign of parents. Geese on grass so thought they might not like duckling which was then scooped out with boys' fishing net, taken home and is now in the rabbit's run! Her description was so funny! Of course they should have left the little mite there. Now they will have to phone the SSPCA!

DH has just popped in from next door watching the Scotland game - we are doing good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off for a glass of red before I get typist wrist! Hope to pop in and see you all again later.

Love and hugs to you all.

    GB xx

    (another copy just in case!)

Chick episode reminds me - is RacyR OK - just realised I haven't read any posts the last couple of days!
