Casual or hardcore? Not that I want to divide the masses, peace and love and all that
I'm a casual gamer myself; I just don't have the time to be anything else. Although, God help you if you get in between me and a newly-released AC, PoP or Zelda.

Something between casual and hardcoreI am something between casual and hardcore, when I play I play but not every day, if that makes sense."Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0

CasualI'm a reluctantly casual gamer and I really wish I had more time to give to playing games.
When I get something I really love though, I go out of my way to play it as much as I can. That usually means playing until ridiculous o'clock in the morning. :rotfl:0 -
What is a "hardcore" gamer? Is it how long you game for, the type of games you play, how good you are at them, something else or a combination of different things?
I game, and I enjoy a lot of different games. I also go back to the retro/classic era of Sega Master System and Mega-Drive to replay and try to complete some of those games. However, gaming is not my life. It's a hobby.0 -
Something between casual and hardcoreI'm sort of a hardcore gamer at heart but I don't have much time to play games so I guess between casual and hardcore probably fits me.0

Oh, and in other news, Exhibit A:I'm Hardcore, I play to climb the PSN Profiles Leader-board. Currently in the top 3,000 people in the UK.

Hardcore, baby!!
Which kind of game do you play the most?
I'm a sucker for a good platforms, and I play these the most, Hack and Slash are a good second. I only really play PC and PS3, but more on the PS3.
Some of my favourites of this generation are:
- Devil May Cry
- InFamous
- Grand Theft Auto
- Assassins Creed
- Lego Games
On the last generation I spent amazing amounts of time playing all the Tony Hawk games, along with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but I've owned every console since the Mega Drive.
While I do prefer those types I'll play almost anything, I try and give every game an hour and if I'm having fun I'll keep on at it. The only thing I don't like are First Person Shooters (only ones will amazing stories can make me overlook this) and Sports Games. RPGs hold a special place in my heart, but I try and avoid the super long ones (400+ hour long) as I want to try all the different new games available.0 -
I suppose it's a combination of dedication, competitiveness and time allocated to gaming. And the kinds of games played - I guess I've got a stereotype running through my head, because, no matter how long a person played 'animal crossing' for, they would never be classed as hardcore in my books. Never. :rotfl:
Oh, and in other news, Exhibit A:
Definitely not hardcore then. Slightly more than a casual gamer, perhaps? Love the old school gaming you do! I only ever seek those games out when I'm feeling seriously nostalgic!
See, I just really dislike the stereotype of the "casual" gamer. There is no in-between. I would describe my mother as a "casual" gamer, as she likes to play on the DS (Professor Layton as well as the Lego games) and occasionally picks up the old Sega systems. Whereas I spend more of my time gaming (on different systems) and with a wide range of game choices. I don't play competitively, nor am I making a career out of gaming, but I do like to see if I can platinum my favourite games, and I do like to LAN with friends.0 -
Something between casual and hardcoreI voted for somewhere in between - I play lots of different types of games. It depends what you mean by hardcore really - do you mean spending hours a day on MMOs or FPSs trying to increase your rank or whatever, or do you just mean "plays games other than Candy Crush Saga".0

Hardcore, baby!!To me, once in a blue moon is playing minesweeper when bored in work and you've heard of Mario. You think Tomb Raider and Resident Evil are just films.
Casual is maybe playing Angry Birds and the odd console game. You once weighed yourself on the Wii. (That white thing with dust on it)
Between is playing quite a few console games fairly often. You probably know what FPS or RPG stands for.
Hardcore is doing the previous but also reading gaming magazines/websites/forums. Your Sims have more sex than you do.Hi.
