    Something between casual and hardcore
I'm somewhere in the middle, I tried to convince myself I was more than that, traded my Wii and got a PS3 and hardly played it as most of the games I thought I wanted to play required a little more than a casual gamer.

So I persevered and just a month ago traded it in for a WiiU and I love it.

Really I'm a Nintendo girl at heart.

I would describe myself as hardcore, but without the time to dedicate to it, how I long for the days when dh and I would play ff7 from morning til night, only stopping to order pizza!
These days I am forced to fit my gaming in around the kids, although dh and I tend to have a game we are playing together in the evenings, at the moment we are playing the last of us, and enjoying it greatly.
I am also currently playing resident evil revelations on my own and loving it.
I have had consoles for as long as I can remeber starting with the spectrum, though I don't think we will be getting the new ps4 as we tend to game mainly on the pc, left for dead2 being my multiplaying game of choice, the pc gaming community is much nicer too.

I find a lot of games these days are far too dumbed down, puzzles are a lot easier and there isn't any consequence to dying, not like the days of chuckie egg, when dying meant doing it all again!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

    Casual
I would have said years ago that I was somewhere between casual and hardcore, played nearly every day sometimes into the small hours of the morning and slept long in the morning.
Now, after two children getting up at some ungodly hour in the morning and me getting older I need my sleep.
Now I play a couple of times a week...no more 6 hour marathons on the xbox, it is now maybe an hour at the most a few times a week when cbeebies is not on:)
  • Casual
I used to consider myself a 'hardcore' gamer but as I find myself with less and less time, I tend to play once a week but for a fair few hours. It's strange playing a game over the course of weeks rather than the days it would take before but I feel like I get a bit more value for my money now.

    Casual
I used to play till 3am, hwever I have always been a casual gamer - its a game to me. I play to enjoy it, I play and follow the rules or behave myself.

I hate it when we get the kiddies that just run & gun & teamkill etc.

Thats why I liked Sniper Elite 2 as it has no cross modes.

Normally, I would never play offline games, only playing multiplayer because of the fun and variance in the game. But now I am happy to play offline because now online people barely talk.

Sadly life interferes far too much to be a hard core gamer these days but I am putting in more game time after buying a new projector a a huge screen makes such a difference to gaming and I jumped out of my skin when an infected from Last of us first jumped up and starting eating my neck  the PJ makes games a tad more erm atmospheric.

One of my Coders has submitted a holiday request form this week stating "can I have the week off when GTA5 launches, not sure when its going to be...... its Rockstar :)"

X2: The Threat, X3: Reunion, X3: Terran Conflict, X3: Albion Prelude
I don't believe that I have played any of them, but that's more a commentary on my game tastes than the game. But I am majorly impressed, you have a great job!! :j

I love this post. It's always lovely to hear about gamer couples, and the way you both still play/play together even after having a family is heartwarming! And I totally agree with your comment about dumbed-down games - just goes to show how society has turned into one that requires (near enough) instant gratification.

So very true! It always used to take me weeks to finish a game, probably because I was a lot more responsible with my time, and the game was well worth the money at that point. Nowadays I've discovered the phenomenon of finishing a game in a few hours/couple of days, and always feel at a loss afterwards - did I really just fork out all of that money for a few hours of fun?

    Fled is that music...:p
  • Hardcore, baby!!
as my rig gets older i end up in the casual to hardcore.

when my rig was new, hardcore, racked up over 1200 hours in joint operation typhoon rising, escallations, and ICEmod. god knows what combined in call of duty series i lost count, need for speed series etc.

would like to go back to it hard again, but think the wife would have something to say about it.
