It should be relatively easy when it comes to remortgaging for your fixed rate.... Especially if Barclays do great rates towards the end but it won't be as difficult as this time.

If you think this is stressful.... You've got to get a lot of patience when dealing with solicitors!
That's reassuring about the remortgage, thanks!
I'm not too daunted by the legal side of things, I was a lawyer up until a recent career change so I'm familiar with how they work and the potential for delays! I guess i just came into this with different expectations for the mortgage application... lesson well and truly learnt!  :D

    No problem!

Ah, what an advantage that is! We've found the solicitors the most stressful part so far - mainly because we're totally in the dark and the solicitors have given us zero guidence!

Ahh, that's stressful! Are they contactable at the moment? I'd be asking for a telephone appointment to go through everything. You're paying them for their expertise and for them to explain the process and your options in enough detail to enable you to make an informed decision, so they should be doing that!
  • Hi Everyone! Been reading throughout this forum for years in the hope I can buy my first home and after a lot of hard work I’m happy to say I’ve had an offer accepted and my mortgage application was submitted (via broker) through Natwest last week.

Now the dreaded wait....fingers crossed. And good luck to those also waiting!

Congrats on your offer being accepted! Fingers crossed that your mortgage application goes smoothly and quickly!
  • Here's mine so far:
04/03 - offer on house accepted. Yay!
16/03 - application submitted with Barclays
17/03 - told broker they got my DOB wrong (typo)
20/03 - DOB corrected but told that no longer 95% LTV only 90% so new product chosen
23/03 - PCV uploaded to confirm changed product
30/03 - confirmed that credit check and automated valuation have both been done and no issues with either
06/04 - proof of address requested and uploaded
14/04 - Barclays claim not to have received the PCV despite broker seeing it on the portal, broker uploads it again.
20/04 - requested a form to confirm whether I've been affected by covid, e.g. furlough (luckily I haven't). Later on the broker confirmed everything but ID was showing as accepted on the portal.
23/04 - proof of address has been accepted, now just waiting for driving licence to be checked.
23/04 - technical issue as Barclays have 2 records in my name (i previously had a current account with them) and they need to merge them.
25/04 - driving licence confirmed as accepted.

Got my fingers crossed that it might get sorted this week :)

We are now waiting for our mortgage offer
We had a mortgage in place for a Resales shared ownership property that we got accepted for early September, seller was buying new build and was originally meant to be moving in end of 2019 but delayed till april 2020.
Mortgage offer ran out mid april, asked extension with leeds but refused due to us being furlough.

Now gone with a broker and have send in full application with nationwide on 30th april and have valuation booked for 5th may.

Fingers crossed as we have been waiting for long for this house!

Broker about to put in app to Halifax. Offer was accepted on 21/3 and we are just waiting for my next set of accounts from my accountant. Thankfully lockdown has gifted us a bit of extra time!
    Tricky issues:
    It's a big mortgage at 85% LTV
    I'm self employed
Husband won't be on mortgage due to credit history
Will update once application is in...

Fingers crossed for you both

@klloyd89 what type of valuation has been booked? Is the house you're buying unoccupied?

No movement on mine yet, but apparently Barclays have told the broker they expect the technical issue to be sorted and the mortgage to be underwritten by tomorrow so will have to wait and see!
