Same here Lucygoose. I'm awake for hours running things though my head. Worse as our sellers will not remove the property from the market until we have a full mortgage offer on it :(

Same here, applied 24/01, valued 07/02, still waiting now on my copy of the homebuyers report and mortgage offer (hopefully). I do know the valuation has come back OK so according to the branch advisor its now a procedural matter and up to the solicitors.

I really don't like all this waiting around though!

  • We got our AIP from Santander around 2 weeks ago
    Had offer on house accepted
full application has gone in today
Broker thinks they will come back this week to arrange valuation.

We are first time buyers using the govenment Help to Buy with 5% deposit.

our affordability is a big plus. Our mortgage repayments would be less than 25% of our income at 4.99%

cant stop thinking of things that may go wrong lol.

We've exchanged so thought I'd update with our full "end to end" on purchase

    23/11/2013 - 1st/2nd viewing
24/11/2013 - Offer made and verbally accepted
26/11/2013 - Offer accepted in writing
30/11/2013 - DIP approval with Nationwide and full application made
02/12/2013 - Solicitor instructed and forms returned
02/12/2013 - Nationwide requested proof of deposit and other supporting documents
11/12/2013 - Nationwide happy with all documents sent in, just waiting on valuation (19/12) for final decision
12-13/12/2013 - Solicitors confirmed initial drafts received and searches submitted, should get them back before Christmas.
    19/12/2013 - Survey done
20/12/2013 - HBR received via e-mail (all green, no problems), lot of confusion over the valuation but a couple of stern phone calls to Countrywide sorted that out!
20/12/2013 - Text and e-mail saying official offer made and paperwork sent out.
13/01/2014 - All searches completed, contract pack sent out
    16/01/2014 - Signed contract returned
29/01/2014 - All outstanding queries returned to our solicitor. Start looking for exchange/completion dates
13/02/2014 - Person at top of chain wants everything arranging around them, offers one completion date, then changes their mind, then changes dates a further 3 times. Everyone, including solicitors getting annoyed, date finally agreed and contracts exchanged!

We are completing 5th March, which comes back to 14 weeks (99 days) between offer and completion in a chain of 3. This does include Christmas/New Year and a disorganised top of chain who are unwilling to negotiate on anything, so 12 weeks without.

    First time buyers

08/02 viewed complete new build, put in offer 2 hours later
    09/02 offer accepted, reserved plot
10/02 solicitors instructed, DIP with Santander
12/02 solicitors confirm receipt of paperwork, countdown begins!
13/02 Full mortgage application goes in.

Eek! We have 28 days to exchange then complete by end of March!

I know it's only been a few days but I hate waiting! Solicitors are waiting for the offer to come through so nothing can move forward until we have it.
MA says 2 - 4 weeks, the waiting is driving me potty already!

Most of the waiting is either solicitors or others in the chain!
  • I'm still waiting on my mortgage offer too! My full application went in to the halifax on feb 6th. Pulling my hair out!!
  • I'm not quite at the awaiting mortgage decision yet but can I join in anyway?

    18/01/14 - AIP obtained
16/02/14 - Viewed house and put in opening offer
17/02/14 - First offer rejected and improved offer submitted

Wait in to hear back from the estate agents now. We can go higher than our second offer but don't want to go too high too fast as we are FTB and chain free so EA has told us we are in a really good position. Fingers crossed!
