We went with Halifax about a month ago. I heard from my broker that we had a mortgage offer before we got the letter saying they had instructed a valuation. From mortgage in with broker to offer in inbox was 6 days.0

Unbelievable. Halifax issued with mortgage offer with the wrong property address. Now it has to go back to the value (pre-mortgage offer stage), just so it can be amended. And its going to take up to 5 days! And they wrote the wrong lease term...0

That's ridiculous. I'd be whacking a complaint straight in, there's no excuse for mistakes like that over something so important!
Well I received the mortgage lender's surveyor report today in the post; looks like the valuation has come back ok! Just waiting on the offer now. I understand from previous posts that my lender (Clydesdale) can be quite slow which is frustrating; I just want to knowww!! I assume that as it's got to this stage things are looking good though? Tick tock.

We have just submitted an application for mortgage today. We also sorted out a joint account with nationwide who is the lender too. This is to make it easier for us to keep the bills money aside so we are not tempted to spend it. My partner has also opened a bank account them to get £100 bonus each so that will help towards the first payment if it’s slightly higher than normal. Also we will get £1500 cash back because I saved over 5k and also that we are first time buyers.Mortgage free wannabe
Actual mortgage stating amount £75,150
Overpayment paused to pay off cc
Starting balance £66,565.45
Current balance £58,108
Cc around 8k.0 -
Thought I would add my recent application timeline to this thread. It was a Halifax 5 year Fixed Rate (using HTB for a newbuild Barratt Home) and processed using a broker.
Thurs 20th Feb - AIP & Full application
Friday 21st Feb - Valuation Booked
Wed 26th Feb - Valuation completed
Thurs 27th Feb - Mortgage Offer Received
Really impressed with Halifax's turn around. The mortgage offer letter was actually dated the 26th meaning they took less than a week for the whole process.
