Mortgage application submitted to Halifax this morning and by 2pm they had booked a survey of the house. The valuer/surveyor will be going round on Friday. Seems to be very quick but no idea if it's normal!0

So far for us:
28 May - Made offer on property
31 May - Offer accepted
08 June - Full mortgage application completed with broker
08 June - Paid for valuation via broker
08 June - Provisionally paid for searches with solicitor (searches will not be done without our say so but can be put into motion straight away once we have our valuation back without delay or will be refunded if we don't go ahead)
23 June - Chased up our broker and he confirmed that we're still waiting for the bank to complete the survey.
So we are back to waiting. I guess I need to be a little more patient.
Been hiding away from updating because it's disappointing for us.
Barclays came back to our broker on 26 June and said the property did not meet their lending criteria.
They requested a damp and timber report, electricians report and an asbestos report and quotes for work to go with these.
We already knew the property needed a full rewire and a damp-proof course. We also knew there is asbestos in the garage roof which we have the funds to sort all these out but the bank still want a report that says so.
We've had the damp and timber report and the electricians report completed. The asbestos company are due to go to the property on Friday to complete the asbestos report and then will be passing the reports over to our broker to send over to Barlcays to see what they say.
So we're back to waiting againMortgage start: £121,500 Dec 190 -
Haven't seen many of these recently with Platform so thought i'd post:
Offer Made - 10/7/19 (best and final offer)
Offer Accepted - 12/7/19
Solicitor Instructed 15/7/19
Mortgage Application submitted to Platform via Trussle - 19/07/19
Hard credit check by Platform - 19/07/19
Valuation has been booked in for Friday by Platform, however not heard back about the initial underwriters decision yet. Our broker said we should hear by close of business tomorrow.
Hopefully them booking the valuation is a good sign!0 -

There are 16 flats in our block, 7 are privately owned. I don't feel positive about the lender's response regarding this but I checked on their website and it doesn't state in their lending criteria that majority counts. We're three weeks into application, getting a step closer but this has thrown a spanner in the works and I feel deflated today if I'm honest.
24/07 Valuation booked
25/07 Valuation taking place
Everything crossed   :eek:0 -

Mortgage broker updated us today that Halifax are happy with all our financials so it now all comes down to tomorrow's valuation. Assuming that goes well (please, please, please), she thinks we'll receive our mortgage offer either tomorrow or Monday. Here's hoping!0 -
Hi, really pleased (and wracked with nerves!) to be able to join this thread now. MA submitted our application yesterday to Natwest.
Our timeline is:
03/07 - first viewing
07/07 - second viewing
08/07 - first offer £20k under asking
10/07 - increased to £10k under asking - thought we don't want to mess them around - although it had been on for 4 months with no offers at this point
15/07 - vendor rejected that, they have three more viewings.
19/07 - [according to the estate agent] they have another buyer who's offered £2k under asking but as we're FTBs/ chain free they wanted to see if we'd match it... suckers that we are, we did
20/07 - offer accepted
22/07 - sols instructed
25/07 - MA back off holiday, he submits application to Natwest... the wait begins
Anyone have a rough estimate of how long it takes to hear back from Natwest?
Our MA is good as in as soon as he got back from holiday he submitted the application first thing and emails back very quickly but the whole process is a bit of mystery to me and I wish he was telling us exactly what he was doing when/ before he was doing it, and a bit more info about what the next step/ next wait will be.0 -
Just noticed I have a hard search on my file from 12th July from ‘NATWEST INTERMEDIARY SOLUTIONS for Credit Applications’. Guessing this is the date our MA did the DIP. If all figures/ documents have been keyed in accurately and can be supported by evidence etc does this mean our chances of success are looking okay?
Thanks0 -

Has your MA provided you with a Key Facts Info upon submitting your app? I think this can be issue before or after submission. In our case, as soon as our app was submitted, our broker sent us a confirmation email along with the KFI which details the product terms etc.
We were also credit checked by the lender as soon as they reviewed our app, the requested payment for valuation a few days later.
Our lender's mortgage process stages are:
Application submitted
Application received (credit checked and payment requested)
Application reviewed (underwriting)
Gone to valuation <--- we've just had this done yesterday
Gone to offer
Good luck, we're also anxiously waiting and this is only part 1 of our mortgages and will be going through the whole thing again with mortgage no. 2 if all goes well with 1 (let to buy). :eek:0 -
I've only been on this thread since last weekend, but it's now time for me to move onto the waiting to exchange thread as our mortgage was approved this afternoon! Our timeline below in case it helps anyone:
16/07: Offer made, negotiated and accepted
17/07: Appointed mortgage broker
18/07: Instructed solicitor
20/07: Received AIP from Halifax
22/07: Submitted full mortgage application to Halifax
22/07: Valuation booked
23/07: Query from Halifax about my payslips (they struggled to open them as they're password protected)
25/07: Mortgage financially approved subject to valuation
26/07: Valuation took place
26/07: Mortgage offer confirmed
Still can't believe it happened so fast!
Best wishes to everyone still going through the process!0
