Had my mortgage application in for just over 3 weeks and today I'm hoping is the final step. Our new home (hopefully) has its valuation today and then as long as that goes OK we should get a mortgage offer soon after.

So after waiting nearly 5 years to sell my pretty naff house, then another 2 years for all my defaults, ccj to drift far enough into the past we should hopefully be in our new home for Christmas.

Its been a long old road but it finally feels like we are about there

    Applied direct to Nationwide

19/09 - Telephone Interview and DIP issued
    26/09 - Formal in-branch interview
    27/09 - Valuation done
    04/10 - Formal offer received

All pretty painless and quick - thankfully, though LTV was only 25% and term 8.5 years (due to age) so didn't really expect too many issues.

Ugh I've applied for two mortgages via my broker. One has come through from Santander, the other remortgage from Clydesdale is being dragged out. For the last two weeks they've been requesting more info as they seem to think we have undeclared commitments and our credit cards don't match what they're seeing?! We've sent back credit reports with perfect scores but still they're not swallowing it. My broker is stumped and we're eating our fists with frustration! Anybody else had this? We still wait, again, for a decision...

Is it worth asking them (or getting your broker to ask) what exactly it is that is causing them concern? It seems odd that they would express such vague concern without specifics (maybe this is normal for underwriters - I don't know!?).

In any event, good luck with it all.

Yep, this is via the broker who is equally perplexed considering he's one of their top brokers. The underwriter said: "credit card declared does not line up with credit file, please review an up to date credit report for both applicants and provide your findings along with a copy of the credit report
Please note we have found additional commitments that have not been declared - please obtain up to date credit reports and review."

We supplied credit reports from Experian scoring close to perfect for both of us, but still they came back and wanted more info about credit cards and other commitments! We've been racking our brains, we've never had loans, the only debt we have is our mortgage and car payments, both visible on bank statements although mortgage not showing on credit report. credit cards we only use an Amex and MBNA which are always paid in full.....

Does Clydesdale source data from Experian?

Have you looked at the other versions of your credit file?

Yeah I googled around and found Clydedale uses Experian, I also ran another one from ClearScore which was identical in content but with a lower but still excellent score. My broker thinks it's because i have an Islamic mortgage and somehow that's confusing them, but they've seen the paperwork for that already and still doesn't account for these credit card issues they're going on about.

Clear score is connected to Experian I thought? Sign up with Noddle which is free (call credit) and google free equifax report and sign up as a few of our agreements aren’t on Experian but on equifax / Noddle and I’m sure Clydesdale will have access to other CRA’s?
