  • Hello, gonna let myself in here, trying to get a feel for how I should expect things to go, as I am a first time buyer with lots of anxiety and questions.

11/06 - AIP accepted with Principality via broker
12/06 - Offer accepted on house
13/06 - Chose my solicitor and informed EA
15/06 - Email from my broker asking me to download, sign and return to them my application declaration as well as a DD mandate. Also, had the fee for the Home Buyers Report taken from my bank account by Principality.

As for the above, I have no clue if this means I have had my mortgage accepted? I would assume a positive result if money has been taken, but I could be wrong :D

    Let the waiting commence...

Nationwide - application submitted on the 14th as previous post.

The valuation was booked for the 15th and it was received on the 15th and currently "under review".

However, I now have 4 different Decision in Principle - Accept documents throughout the process so far...any idea why so many? They have also credit-checked each time (on Noddle there are 3 different applications from Nationwide all on the same day). This doesn't seem right to me but maybe it is?
  • good luck everyone.

  • Timeline:
10th May – Applied for AIP and agreed
24th May – House offer accepted
31st May – Call with Mortgage Advisor for full application
4th June – Mortgage Illustration signed
5th June – Text for Valuation booked on 11th June
12th June – Valuation completed and uploaded
15th June – Valuation agreed and sent to underwriters
18th June – Offer agreed by underwriters and they informed that offer will be sent by end of the week

I've heard First direct are very strict and refuse applications straight away if you don't have perfect credit. However our experience proved otherwise, if you have a good relationship with the bank and you keep every account and payments in order they are most likely to consider your application. Our credit score was no where close to good or perfect, but we were offered mortgage, so don't loose hope if your credit score isnt great.
