UPDATE - Survey and valuation booked for 4th June - just over 4 weeks from offer being accepted.

Received confirmation today from our broker that Virgin have issued our offer and it will be in the post today. Our broker is having a final check over to make sure the terms etc are okay.

What is an acceptable time to propose completion dates? The house is empty and contracts are with our solicitor waiting to be signed - should i suggest the 15th June?

We have some progress. Had a phonecall with our solicitor on Friday to say they had received everything and were just waiting on searches to be completed.

However, they sent a letter to advise that they havent received the formal mortgage offer or the fixtures and fittings list (even though the vendor sent them a while ago)

I've contacted my broker to remind my lender of the documentation and just hope they can work it out with the vendors solicitor soon!

    Quick update
Valuation took place today 13th June
Solicitor emailed to say all the searches have come back however they are waiting on the balance of contract documents to come back from the sellers solicitors? I have emailed EA to get in touch with the sellers to get the paperwork to my solicitor asap.

They are pushing for a quick sale and completion within 4 weeks doesn't look very likely to me......

Does anyone know what documents these are?

Moving home and moving lenders as current lender takes childcare costs into account and won't lend us enough (only need to increase mortgage by 70k so this makes no sense but anyhoo). So here goes!

25 May 18 AIP from Natwest
31 May 18 Full application submitted
01 June 18 Requested previous year's bonus payslip from OH - supplied next day.
    04 June 18 Valuation completed
05 June 18 Requested redemption statement for current mortgage - supplied same day
07 June 18 All actions have a tick in the tracker and we are waiting for a decision!

Could see on the tracker there were some back and forths with documents, broker said some of the payslips didn't upload properly so had to be resent a couple of times.....but now we have our offer!!
    10 working days wasn't too bad :j

Well 4 1/2 years on from when I last posted an update we are hopefully on the move. Still in Scotland as I know timelines and processes can vary a little bit.

    Timeline so far:

09/06/18 - Viewed property - verbal offer made.
10/06/18 - Decision in Principle received.
11/06/18 - Formal offer made - offer accepted in principle. Estate agent instructed on the marketing and sale of our house.
13/06/18 - Estate agent measured our property, home report instructed and a few other bits and pieces. Negotiation with solicitor regarding included items in sale of new property.
14/06/18 - Full mortgage application made (Nationwide). Home report and survey carried out on my current house. Documents requested from Nationwide: Last payslip and proof of wife's bonus - both submitted electronically.
15/06/2018 - Valuation Booked (didn't think they would do that in Scotland given the home report/valuation survey system we have)...

Last time (2014) we were 4 days from submission to offer (including a weekend)...don't think we'll beat that but anything close would be appreciated.
  • 14/06 Received our mortgage offer in the post yesterday, really pleased. Also had the Homebuyers report back and it all looks ok - a couple of things highlighted but we knew about them anyway. Can now tentatively move over to the waiting to exchange thread. Good luck everyone.

08/06 Survey is actually happening today, so much for a couple of weeks! Everything crossed now.
    Small update...

05/06 Broker contacted us to say Principality are happy to progress on to the valuation. Have upgraded to Homebuyers so may take a couple of weeks, but another positive step forward.
We can finally, tentatively join this thread. Our previous credit history isn't great but fingers crossed that our broker knows his onions...

15/03 Initial chat with Natwest, AIP given with soft search.
30/03 Issues on credit reports shown to Natwest, new AIP given.
15/04 Contacted broker as did not believe Natwest would accept our full application, they agreed
16/04 Begin house hunting in earnest
21/05 Initial offer made, rejected 24/05
24/05 Second and final offer made
    25/05 Offer accepted
25/05 Back to broker to discuss options
31/05 AIP referred with Principality, as expected with previous credit issues declared (not a straight decline, woop!)
31/05 Progressed to full application with Principality

Nervously waiting now. Did not expect to be at this point as soon as we are - prepared for another 12 months wait at least.
