Congrats! I'm still waiting to hear what the valuation came back as... they did the survey last Thursday.
  • didnt think i had a chance tbh but broker been very good
  • Jumping on the band wagon here!

    My process so far....

    16/08 - Meeting with broker
21/08 - AIP obtained with Halifax through broker
    03/09 - Plot reserved
13/09 - Mortgage application submitted (bit of a delay in actioning this due to going backwards and forwards with the sales office regarding our incentives)

Still heard nothing, no fees taken from my bank, no credit searches showing on my credit report.... am I being really impatient or should I expect to see something by now?
  • all official as can be i suppose got offer in writing gonna be saving £170 a month on the rent we pay

If you have paid no fees to Halifax, your application hasn't been submitted.

Once the application is submitted and passed credit score, you can't finalise the submission without paying the valuation fee as a minimum.

Hmm, annoyingly my broker is on holiday until Monday so will have to be a waiting game until then. I just called and spoke to his admin team who have advised Halifax have verified our income but have some 'points' which need to be answered by our broker and then they can instruct valuation. Not sure what those points could be...

Yippee I can actually join this thread!

Our timeline... (by the way we were not in a rush as renting and saving)

9/7 Went to visit house being renovated by cousin. Loved it.
4/8 Took husband along. Also a big fan.
29/8 House was valued by EA at £220,000, offered to us at £210,000.
31/8 Decided to go for it, looked at MSE mortgage comparison and sought advice from London and Country. Found a conveyancer.
    5/9 AIP submitted and approved.
6/9 Lenders have taken application and valuation fee.

Now awaiting confirmed list of required documentation although L&C gave us a good idea what these would be so have started requesting statements from banks etc.

    It's happening!! :)
7/9 Received list as long as my arm of documents needed! Being moneysaving means I opened lots of bank accounts, unfortunately this meant requesting lots of statements - First Direct very helpful, sent straight away, Nationwide very helpful, allow you to print PDFs from website, Halifax nightmare! Charge you £5 for a statement which took 11 days to arrive!
15/9 Got together all documents and posted them off.
18/9 Submitted instruction pack to solicitors and paid initial conveyancing fee.
19/9 Both broker and solicitors are pinging me emails back and forth requesting additional information. Fun times at the busiest period for my job!
