This will be me next week.
We've an offer accepted we need a £90,0000 mortgage with a 50% deposit on top. So the mortgage itself is less than 2x our income. Stable long term jobs in the NHS/council. Still panicking! (I've realised during this process I panic more than I knew!!)

Haha, I know what you mean! This process has made me worry every step of the way.. I don't think I'll relax till we actually complete and are in the house!

Valuation is tomorrow, Mortgage broker updated us on Monday that after ringing the lender everything else was fine and they were just awaiting the valuation outcome so fingers crossed if that all goes ok our mortgage offer wont be far behind.

31th March - Valuation fees taken from bank account
4th April - Originals of payslips posted due to issues with scanning them
4th April - Authority to Proceed received from Help to Buy

Just did my AIP with halifax, phoning on saturday to do the full application!

She said we must have good credit as came back as 5% deposit how can they tell from a soft search?
  • :j Yay i can finally join in and say I am waiting for a mortgage decision. We got our agreement in principle yesterday from Nationwide. House is off the market and we have submitted our application. This morning a text came to say the valuation had been arranged...... Could this actually be happening? the 12 years saving and waiting finally coming to an end. Exciting times. Not expecting it to be too quick though as they haven't requested any documents from us yet which I found strange but we do save through them anyway so they may be able to get some info from that account I guess?? oooohhhh I don't know.... First time buyers by the way and totally clueless with the whole thing..... :rotfl:
  • We are also in the process of buying our first home. These are the timelines so far:

    House viewed - 18th March
Offer put in - 18th March
    Offer accepted - 20th March
    AIP - 21st March
Mortgage applier via broker (Santander) - 22nd March
    Valuation done - 30th March
Mortgage Decision - Still waiting for a decision hopefully not that long now!

Anyone aware of how long Santander are taking to process applications?

We're setting up applications received on
    6 Apr

We're checking supporting documents received on
    6 Apr

We're reviewing applications sent to our underwriters on
    31 Mar

My application to Santander was submitted 30th March, they wanted something confirmed which was done on 5th April and then went straight to underwriters.

    Nervous times for me.

Do you know your reference number? you can track your application on their mats system

Had the text yesterday that we have a mortgage offer from nationwide!! :D

    15/3 Offer accepted on house
20/3 AIP gone through and full application submitted.
21/3 Valuation booked for 6/4 (Tenant moved out 5/4)
3/4 Broker reported that financials were fine and subject to valuation
6/4 Valuation completed and mortgage offer received.

Can't believe it was so quick only 2 1/2 weeks - Having a mortgage broker def helped everything along and supplying him with a little mountain of documents from the first meeting! :)

This was my timeline with them
08/03 mortgage application submitted via broker
    14/03 mortgage valuation
    15/03 Santander requesting extra documents
20/03 mortgage approved. Offer in post!

    Good luck!
  • We've been waiting on tenterhooks for a response from HSBC. Went through 2nd stage Thurs before last, only on Saturday they asked for additional docs so we have sent those and am certifying my ID in branch today.

Anyone know generally how long after this HSBC take to make a decision? Obviously all cases are different, but it would be good to have a timeframe of some sort. :)

Ooh also do they call you with an offer or send it by post?
