our story so far we are buying a new build under our local council affordable housing scheme and have a 10% deposit this restricted us to only a handful of lenders.

Dec - Looked around a new build
7th Jan - DIP gained from broker (Halifax)
8th Jan- application submitted to the council
19th Jan - Application successful meeting criteria for affordable housing
21st Jan - reservation fee paid for new build plot
5th February - Full mortgage application submitted
    6th Feb- fees taken
7th Feb - Recent wage slips and bank statement requested
10th Feb - requested letter from my employer
13th Feb - Email from broker to say everything was fine just waiting for the valuation.
15th Feb- received a copy of valuation from Halifax through the post - States the property is valued at the same price we are asking for.

From the broker saying everything is fine and us receiving the valuation would you hazard a guess that we are all good? This is the hardest longest wait of my life and I have been pregnant twice so know how to wait lol!

    still waiting..............................

I emailed MB Friday to say we had got the valuation through the post and she asked for a copy. Surely Halifax should have sent them a copy as well as me? she said that we are just waiting on a mortgage offer to be issued which should have been today do you think this means we have passed everything? I am seriously going nuts with waiting never known anxiety like it lol
  • i would say so, just waiting for the offer now

    Update

    28/01 Accepted offer on property
    01/02 Reserved new build
    02/02 AIP (Halifax)
14/02 Help to Buy application submitted by mortgage broker
17/02 Mortgage application submitted by mortgage broker
20/02 Help to Buy ATP received
    20/02 Valuation fee taken
    21/02 Employer reference requested
23/02 Valuation booked for buyers lender

I need the sale and purchase to go through smoothly as the developer wants to complete by the end of March, is this doable?

We are waiting for the decision from Virgin Money.
Husband has excellent credit score, mine - is not so good. Nationwide gave us a DIP but reduced the sum after checking affordability (because of nursery payments). Virgin did almost all checks, including affordability and valuation. Our adviser told us that they are checking my work - I was self employed for few years earning almost nothing. Started to work full time this October. Salary was very small for first 3 months, but I have permanent contract from January with good payslip... It is so difficult to wait. :(
They should give an answer tomorrow or Monday.

Got an offer today! It was longest 2 weeks in our life.
    Good luck everyone!
  • Minor update - Survey has come back at the correct value

Just waiting on the lovely Nationwide underwriter to check my employment contract :)
