  • Hi everyone, my wife and I applied for a mortgage for 143,950 on Monday for a property of 160k, £16,050 deposit through abbey / santander.

    Aip done 22/11
    Full mortgage app 2/12
4/12 Only docs requested were one months payslips
2 additional payslips of my wife march 2013, September 2013 as this is when she gets her bonus's (twice yearly).
5/12 requested docs submitted to mortgage company.
10/12 still heard nothing? Yesterday the broker said I should hear tomorrow? Anyone know why the delay?

Apparently I passed fine, they just have to check wife's bonus payslips?

Has anyone heard of this before? They haven't asked for any bank statements however the mortgage adviser has for her records.

    Thanks in advance!!

    James
  • Currently applied for FTB mort with Nationwide,
    26-11-13 Offer accepted

    29-11-13 Instructed Solicitor
01-12-13 supporting documents sent via branch fax
04-12-13 Further documents requested and employer ref as my wage slip shows 2 gross salaries, and they need to get confirmation, even though I'm working in the same place just two roles!
05-12-13 Valuation and homebuyer survey completed
06-12-13 Further documents requested - big problem here as they need my final tax credit award notice which I never received after 6 months!!! Frantic phone call to HMRC to ask why they never sent it - apparently all computer generated so they done know why it;s not sent but will try to hurry it along- but could take weeks!!! Informed nationwide of this but will send ASAP when i get it.
06-12-13 Received copy of Homebuyers report via email.
07-12-13 Tried to log on to the nationwide tracking service but can't as it now says there are no active applications linked to my email address !!!!!!!!! So phone mort centre they said they can still see the application and maybe they are making an offer or there is a computer error not allowing me to view it- but viewed it fine until then!!! But could phone new business team to check on progress but have to wait til monday!!
08-12-13 Tried to look at application progress today and now it says they cant retrieve anything and to try again, but still wont let me view!!

have they declined me and not told me am getting worried now - have paid out for booking fee and valuation and survey.

Haven't sent off solicitors forms and deposit yet as am scared to loose that if they have or will decline me.

Am going to email solicitor and say have only just received their T&C and am looking to come by on Friday with form and ID and deposit then!!

Anyone else with Nationwide having problems logging in to retrieve their app?? Or is it just me

  • My timeline so far:
    21/11 - 1st viewing
    22/11 - 2nd viewing, in daylight
22/11 - offer made and accepted
28/11 - full mortgage app submitted to NatWest via broker (I had a DIP with Nationwide for a 2 year fix, but decided I wanted a 5 year fix so took a few days to decide on one)
3/12 - Natwest wanted proof of my post-retirement income as mortgage term ends when I'm 67. Broker pointed out to them that my official state retirement age is in fact 67 not 65.
6/12 - ISA statement (where my deposit currently is) sent to Natwest as online printout didn't show name of account, only number

Have taken my ID to my solicitor and paid £250 to them on account.

I'm not entirely sure what happens if I get a mortgage offer - I assume I need to contact solicitor and estate agent and tell them? Although they and my broker all have each other's details, so not sure if I am supposed to let them communicate between themselves and I only get involved to chase things???

Had a call from my broker to say mortgage approved, subject to valuation, which should happen sometime next week! Fingers crossed no issues with it!

    Congrats to those recently approved!!

Can I join?? We're FTB's and I feel like this saga has been going on forever...

09/2013 - Saw property on RightMove, whilst on holiday!
    04/10/2013 - First viewing
    12/10/2013 - Second viewing.
14/10/2013 - Received London & Country decision in principle.
15/10/2013 - First and second offers made, both rejected.
16/10/2013 - Third offer made, rejected.
28/10/2013 - Met with a local broker, found out DIP from L&C wasn't valid and we would have to wait until end of Nov to get another DIP due to an issue with wage slips.
    31/10/2013 - House sold! :(
09/11/2013 - House reappears on RightMove!
26/11/2013 - Got wage slips needed, met with new broker.
    27/11/2013 - DIP with Santander. 85% LTV.
    28/11/2013 - Offer finally accepted.
03/12/2013 - Full application with Santander and solicitors instructed.
    10/12/2013 - More documents requested.

I feel like I am going mad :o Our broker is really approachable, but I am a bit of a control freak and used to doing everything myself so not knowing exactly what is going on immediately is driving me crazy. One of the documents requested is a SA302 form. I called HMRC about this yesterday and they told me it would be posted immediately but could take up to two weeks  Hoping it's much quicker, really would like a decision before Xmas! We've also been told to hold back on sending the solicitors forms back until we've had a decision so no doubt they will be contacting us soon to see whats going on.

You can ask HMRC to fax the SA302 to your broker.

I read that yesterday, and asked her if it was an option but she said some mortgage lenders won't accept it?

My application is now with the underwriters, apparently this is to rubber stamp the application but it makes me feel like it's going to be declined - is this a standard practice?

Another day and nothing - has anyone else had the same?

    Thought I would join in...

    Applied online with Nationwide

    03/12/13 - DIP agreed
03/12/13 - Most recent payslip requested
    04/12/13 - Offer accepted
    07/12/13 - Full Application Submitted
    07/12/13 - Valuation requested
07/12/13 - Payslip sent to nationwide
    10/12/13 - Payslip satisfactory
    11/12/13 - Payslip returned
11/12/13 - Estate agent tells my surveyor has been in touch for keys, but I haven't been told valuation date

Only problem I've had is if you apply online you can't go in branch or phone the call center to change info, otherwise they will take the application off the online system and move it to in branch or the phone applications call center.

So I have to phone the new business number which is only available 9-5 and is an 0845 number when I'm on PAYG.
