Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

Just out of interest, what would other posters consider an acceptable amount of time between application and valuation? I applied for a mortgage with HSBC two weeks ago, but they seem to be dragging their heels in arranging the valuation.
Last time I took out a mortgage with HSBC in 2010, I chose a straightforward valuation - this was done within a week of the application. This time around, I've gone for the valuation+homebuyer's survey option, which I realise may take longer to arrange. I am getting anxious though, and seriously considering cancelling the application and changing to a different lender.
I would say that 2 weeks is still a fairly short timescale. Have you asked them for an update or spoken with your broker (if you have one)
They may be experiencing a busy rush just before christmas.0 -
Hi everyone, full mortgage application was done on Saturday 29/10/16 for Halifax, through my broker. Fingers crossed it all goes through x"Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles".0

Could it be the sellers not arranging the valuation? On holiday, for example?0 -
No - I instructed HSBC to arrange valuation access via the estate agent. The agent has confirmed that they've had no contact from HSBC so far. I've sent HSBC a secure message via online banking as I'm not able to spend ages waiting on the phone to speak to someone. Will apparently get a reply within two working days. I'm going to give them until the end of the week to get things sorted; if not, I'll go elsewhere. I know it seems ridiculous getting so worked up about it, but I just want things to get moving.0

Hi all,
I'm going to join in on this thread for the 2nd time in 12 months ......and never again after this hopefully :rotfl:
Reserved New Build Property 21/10/16
AIP with Natwest 21/10/16
Full Mortgage App with Natwest (Using H2B) 28/10/16
Valuation Fee Taken 28/10/16
Now it's wait and see. I'm even more stressed this time around than last if that's even possible as we are doubling our current mortgage  and I still have debt outstanding (greatly reduced from last time - more than £13K paid off since last mortgage app). Mortgage advisor has looked through credit file and sent updated figures for some accounts that have been paid off but are still showing on file so I'm hoping we will be good to go but the worry is driving me mad!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
Mortgage - £151.316.54 :eek:0 -
Valuation now booked for Thursday. Has anybody got any idea how long this will take to get back to natwest and then from there how long before an offer is made.
Am I correct in assuming because it's gone to valuation and if everything is fine with it they are ready to give me an offer???0 -
Update - so Nationwide have booked the valuation survey for today so hoping this means we are in the final stages, broker says we should hear by Thursday so everything is crossed !0

I have the exact same timeline as you and am also buying a new build though H2B with NatWest. My timeline:
AIP - NatWest approved in august
Reserved new build 14/10
Authority to proceed back from help to buy 27/10
Full mortgage app with NatWest submitted via broker 28/10
Valuation fee taken 29/10
More payslips and updated credit card balances requested today 31/10 sent straight away.
Apparently the underwriter was happy with everything just the credit card balances had changed since AIP in august. They re-ran the affordability and all ok. Also needed 6 months wage slips for hubby due to bonus and overtime. Broker is confident all is ok as we've passed the credit check and affordability but still so nervous. natwest seem very quick so far so fingers crossed we get something in the next few days.0 -
Yah !
Just heard from the broker that the mortgage has been approved by Nationwide subject to valuation. The valuation was done on Monday but they have not had it back yet. Finally feel like I'm on the home straight !0 -

Yay - congrats.
I'm exactly the same, had a call this morning to say all approved and underwritten and valuation booked. It's such a relief, I cried haha.0
