Received an email from our broker today to say we've been approved and our mortgage offer should now be in the post :j0

Hi, have been looking at this for a while so thought it was time to join in.
We have been looking to buy for a while and have had 3 DIP with Halifax since March while i have been waiting on a new fixed term contract from work. I was a staff member at another company until Oct15 when the company went into administration and have been working as a contractor (effectively self employed) for another firm since then, they have now given me a new 12 month fixed term contract starting from 1st October... So based on our MA advice we are now good for a mortgage and applied to Halifax on 17th October.
All checks etc have gone fine but they are struggling to verify my income as my previous pay slips do not show tax or NI on them and i haven't been self employed long enough to have submitted a tax return yet.
Halifax are sending out an employers reference form to my new employer which should hopefully sort everything out, they have my new contract so there is nothing to worry about it just all adds to the stress!!
Does anyone know what questions these forms ask? I assume its the main facts of employment. Halifax's concern seems to be that my new contract doesn't specifically state that the company will deal with my tax affairs but i don't remember any of my contracts ever stating that in the past 20 odd years! Apparently they are happy with my employment history being in similar roles for the past 15 years so according to MA once they have the Tax / NI confirmed they are ready to issue, we are in Scotland so no valuation thankfully.0 -
Finally got my offer through from Natwest. P A R T Y :j:beer::T
A lesson to those like me with adverse credit, always try one or two high street lenders before resorting to Precise/Aldermore!
Two defaults in 5 years on my file, an arrangement to pay that was only brought up to date a month ago, declined by Barclays but accepted by Natwest on a competitive product.
Can't believe we got a mainstream lender, thank you Natwest!
Good luck to everyone else waiting for a decision, it's a fantastic feeling.0 -
Congratulations.
I've had my aip but valuation fee not taken yet and not heard anything. Feel so stressed.
Had a letter telling me I had a current account at an old address that I forgot about but that's has now been updated.
But not heard anything about a valuation yet.0 -

Great to hear about Natwest offer , I have been saying this for a while bad credit does not mean you can't get a high street lender , a lesson to you all :beer:0

Valuation money has now been taken, but not heard from anyone about when it is.
Hoping this is the last step and the underwriters have done their bit now.0 -
Just out of interest, what would other posters consider an acceptable amount of time between application and valuation? I applied for a mortgage with HSBC two weeks ago, but they seem to be dragging their heels in arranging the valuation.
Last time I took out a mortgage with HSBC in 2010, I chose a straightforward valuation - this was done within a week of the application. This time around, I've gone for the valuation+homebuyer's survey option, which I realise may take longer to arrange. I am getting anxious though, and seriously considering cancelling the application and changing to a different lender.0 -
1st property mortgage accepted - we pulled out after being messed about by sellers.
2nd property application
* Change of property details submitted - 21/10/2016
* Valuation fee paid - 25/10/2016
* Approved - subject to valuation
* Valuation booked for 01/11/2016
Once again, Natwest and our broker have been swift and efficientthe only concern I have is the valuation as this house is a few years older than the one we originally had accepted.
Fingers crossed0
