  • I would call the broker, I think various banks have different policies with that. You dont get a full offer until the valuation is back anyway, but it's just if they would do the valuation if they arent confident they would be making a full offer based on the info you've submitted so far.

Don't post much but - 31 and never had a mortgage due to bad credit in my younger days. Spent the last 5 years living with parents repaying my debts. Nearly all gone....

Applied through a Broker with Barclays. Provisional acceptance and then.....refusal.

She tried with Natwest.....and said it had been accepted. I didn't want to believe her and get my hopes up.

Natwest took the valuation fee from my bank yesterday afternoon.

    Have I got there?!!?!?

Natwest take the valuation fee on application unfortunately. I got super excited when they debited it from my account but then my broker advised that this is what they do with all applications so that there are no delays caused along the way. An AIP is a good indicator though.

Arghhh. Was getting my hopes up.

Would they book the valuation if it's been approved and gone through underwriting?

Sales Exec at the development (new build) says it's booked in for this Monday.

Hoping to join you all, we reserved a new build over the weekend. Already had a dip accepted with Halifax through a broker, apparently we only need to give 1 monthly or 2 weekly payslips for the full application, no bank statements or such like.
A bit worried they have said yes but only a soft search so they may still say no, credit history is top notch

Applied for mortgage with Nationwide on Tuesday 28th feeling confident there wouldn't be any issues. After reading this thread I think I've wound myself up and now very worried I didn't complete the application correctly and will fail on affordability. I didn't include any info about my employee pension contributions which are pretty high and on the "other expenses" part I think I misunderstood it to mean any expenses that were non essentials so I haven't put general outgoings or utility bills etc anywhere.

I didn't use a broker. Is it just a matter of waiting or should I try to contact someone at Nationwide? My DIP was approved, I was only asked to submit one payslip and the survey is booked for Friday.

  • Try contacting them if it will help you feel better, but they know that most customers are not mortgage brokers and will leave info off the application unintentionally.

Wow....after 3 weeks of waiting and the mortgage application being on hold, we finally have our valuation today! :)

EA have been trying to contact them for ages to confirm the time and they have had no response. I have a feeling they are having 2nd thoughts about it all.

Don't panic. They will most definitely contact you should they need any further information. If it will settle your nerves then you can call and speak with someone. Every dealing with had with nationwide has been good so I see them as a good company to deal with.

Had an offer letter from Halifax today, at this stage have all credit checks, etc been conducted? Or will they occur once we have accepted the offer?
