Seems my solicitors work fast (or more accurately, totally ignore what I say, cash my cheque and start searches anyway) as the searches are done & results are back. Not checked yet though. Also seems our proof of address ID isn't acceptable - driving licenses not good enough (?!) so have had to request duplicate council tax bill and paper bank account statement (greener banking, such a pain), both of which will take up to 5 working days to get to me, to then be verified & sent on so that slows it up again! I think it will be mid December before we're ready to exchange, assuming the searches are all fine, so am going to ask to complete as soon as possible after the New Year bank holiday, whenever that falls. Fingers crossed that is do-able :-/

Mini update
Signed contract - 20th November
Searches back - 26th November

Still awaiting enquiries!! phoned solicitors this AM and she has promised me a phone call back today after she has called the vendors solicitors. a completion date of 6th December is looking unlikely x

Made an appointment to see an RBS advisor about HTB - MG. Date given was 29th Nov. Spoke to Natwest who gave us 20th Nov.

Wed 20th Nov - Mortgage application submitted. Got AIP.

Tues 26th Nov - Formal mortgage offer received. Payment taken for full survey and homebuyers report. Solicitor paid allowing local searches to begin.

Woohoo!!! Underwriters have said yes to lending to MrTeapot and I, so it's now just subject to valuation survey.

Updated dates - application is with Santander:

19/11 - application submitted by broker
22/11 - Santander initial team requested fresh copies of some docs
25/11 - Santander completed our file and passed it to underwriting
26/11 - underwriters approved us, passed on for valuation to be booked
