Well, myself and my OH are FTBs (as the name suggests, it's not a rude football abbreviation, as some Belfast types may think...!) and we're waiting for everything to go through.
Dec 11 - offer accepted
Dec 15 - Danske Bank advise they cannot proceed with an application because my OH's income is divided into self-employed earnings (with a low net profit) and two casual contracts. After having made many positive noises and actively encouraged us to go ahead... Oh well.
Dec 16 - straight in to see a mortgage broker, who has been very helpful.
Dec 20 - broker advises us that the Halifax will take us on.
That's as far as we've got, at the moment. We've not commissioned a survey yet, as I am not sure if the Halifax will appoint someone or not, and we've got a solicitor lined up, but not as yet instructed. The numbers aren't scary, and we have a 20% deposit, but it's still very early days...
Haha it really is a nightmare! And a REALLY lengthy process. But I suppose with Christmas and New Year being slap bang in the middle of all this, it hasn't helped much.
My other half received his letter from HMRC (Phew!) and I've sent it off to our MA, my statement is still pending as I haven't received it yet - lets hope it arrives within the next few days.
Sales woman has emailed me however to let me know that Leeds have arranged a valuation to go ahead on the property this Wednesday (06/01/16) yay! She informs me we should receive our Mortgage Offer in the post next week, however I'm yet to send my pending statement. :T
Unfortuataely however, Leeds have been hit by the flood crisis and were unable to work on any cases over the Christmas period. But here's hoping this doesn't effect ours as it's already been passed to an under writer - hence the request for the two forms from myself and my OH.
Yours sounds like a right pain in the !!! also! Nothing is ever easy :rotfl:0 -
Hanbobs congratulations! All sounds as if it's going in the right direction! I've not had word from the broker yet... Surely they're all in work again now?!
Edit: just spoke to the broker... I had assumed when my OH was fist-pumping over getting a payslip through he would have actually forwarded this onto the broker, but no... Haha! Anyway, he was able to tell me mortgage was subject only to proof of income which he's now got. So on Thursday, hopefully we will receive the acceptance confirmation.0 -
First Time Buyers - Halifax Mortgage (10% deposit and 20% HTB)
4th Jan (AM) - Application Sent
4th Jan (PM) - Valuation booked for the 7th Jan
Spoke with the developers, as it's a new build, and they told me they's already had 6 properties on this development have had valuations without any issues so a good sign. Fingers crossed the rest of the application process goes smoothly (I have 2 satisfied defaults from 5+ years, which were declared on the application, hence why I'm so nervous!).0 -
I submitted my full application on 30th November and am still waiting...0

Wow! Who was it with? Did you do it via a broker or directly with the lender? Have you had any reasons as to why it's taking so long?
Applied through Woolwich. They got my valuation address wrong (new build so seller have wrong info), had been given an offer but turned out that the new address on valuation was wrong too! So now I'm waiting on underwriters to yet again give me an offer. Extremely frustrating, especially as I know some who have had the whole thing done in a week!0 -

We are in the same situ as you, I have a 5.5 year old settled default and we have gone via a broker with a Halifax mortgage and HTB scheme on a new build as well. We were told that Halifax take the fee for the valuation but don't instruct the valuation until they are happy with credit checks and affordability. We got a call from our broker a few days after our application saying we were "approved pending valuation" and they had just that day instructed the valuation - two days later we got our offer - hopefully this is accurate and the valuation being booked means good news for you0 -
Good news at last, we found out Christmas Eve that Halifax approved our mortgage application.
My partner had a default (with Halifax!) from 2011, settled in 2013.
We put the full application in at the end of November, so took almost a month as they wanted some more documents from us0 -

The final pending statement arrived in the post yesterday so I was able to scan it over to our MA frst thing this morning! Then he came back to say that Leeds now MIGHT request a full HMRC Employment History from my OH as this is something they have requested recently from others *sigh* so as a precaution my OH is now having to request this information which will take a few days to arrive once he finally gets through to someone at HMRC - let's hope Leeds don't ask for it as the delays are giving me palputations lol
Typical of your OH to forget then I guess :rotfl:At least you now have it! Fingers crossed for Thursday!0 -

Thanks Mummyto4kids, we had an email from our broker a earlier to say Halifax have agreed to the mortgage application pending a satisfactory valuation!Sounds like Halifax are being consistent, hopefully the rest of the process goes similar to yours.
