Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

  • Congrats thorn. That's great news. :j

I tried to complain to santander yesterday because the underwriters have asked for further info. I've sent them the deed of variation that proves I'm entitled to inheritance from my gran's estate but they don't understand it so want a letter from my solicitor to confirm I'm entitled to the money. Surely they have a legal dept who can explain it to them.

It seems so unfair that they're holding things up because, in their own words, they're not legal experts.

It seems there is no way to complain about the applications process. It's their money and it's up to them whether they lend it to you or not - end of discussion!

I'm well within the affordability criteria - I'm moving a mortgage I already have with them and not asking to borrow any more - and I have a 58% deposit if you include the money that they are debating so how is it OK for them not to agree it?!

    Sorry, rant over!

I'm absolutely fuming with Nationwide at the moment. We were told we would have a decision by last Thursday. Phoned them Thursday and our case is stuck in a queue. They had to raise an IT request and was told another 3 days. Phoned them yesterday IT couldn't solve the problem so they've had to rekey the case from scratch and it could be another 3 days. This is getting ridiculous. We applied for the mortgage over 5 weeks ago. And to add to the stress our vendor's EA have been on the phone threatening to pull out of the sale.
  • Scumboss, I feel your pain!

I really wouldn't worry about the vendors pulling out over a few days' delay. I think it's a scare tactic in a lot of cases. Their EA should be telling them to be patient - everyone knows house selling is beset with delays. Could your EA/solicitor try to smooth things out with them by explaining that the delay is beyond your control?

This whole process shouldn't be so complicated. Maybe we should all go back to living in caves!

    Hi All,

I thought I'd join as I'm going through the same, I can't sleep at night the stress is horrible and I keep checking my phone and emails all the time. I can't concentrate at work.

Update on my experience so far:-

03/08 - DIP with Halifax via Broker
22/08 - Full Application submitted and £500 valuation taken via broker

Looking at all your time lines I've got a fair bit of waiting to do. I have no idea when the valuation is booked and I'm not sure how they value it as it's a new build and isn't even built yet only the foundations and base. Does anybody know how they value a property that isn't yet built. The waiting is killing me.

    Congratulations Thorn :T

Our valuation is today, dont know what time though. From the looks of everyone elses timeline we still have a way to go with the waiting for decision. Feel sick, like first day of school feeling x 1000:(

so......did you hear anything from Halifax??

another day gone by for us too........they're all rolling into one now!!!!

    No...boooo!!

Apparently my broker has been ill but I should hear today whether Halifax instruct the survey. I just want to get to that stage as this means they have done all their relevant checks on us and then it is just the survey hurdle.

It is a stressful time but today I have woken up happy and sitting in the office praying for good news! :)
