    Scumboss, I feel your pain!

I really wouldn't worry about the vendors pulling out over a few days' delay. I think it's a scare tactic in a lot of cases. Their EA should be telling them to be patient - everyone knows house selling is beset with delays. Could your EA/solicitor try to smooth things out with them by explaining that the delay is beyond your control?

This whole process shouldn't be so complicated. Maybe we should all go back to living in caves!

Me and my fiance keep saying this - in this day and age, especially with technology, the whole process seems so outdated. I can't believe that if we get declined for the mortgage, we will be £900 out of pocket. I completly understand you have to pay for services, such as the valuation, but it seems a bit of a con for it all to be so much and then it can still be a no. I think it needs to be regulated more by the financial authority. I am sure there are some brokers who will say they are certain you will be accepted for a mortgage to get their fee and get their favourite lender a valuation fee as well. Perhaps I am being too cynical.....

    Hi All,

I thought I'd join as I'm going through the same, I can't sleep at night the stress is horrible and I keep checking my phone and emails all the time. I can't concentrate at work.

Update on my experience so far:-

03/08 - DIP with Halifax via Broker
22/08 - Full Application submitted and £500 valuation taken via broker

Looking at all your time lines I've got a fair bit of waiting to do. I have no idea when the valuation is booked and I'm not sure how they value it as it's a new build and isn't even built yet only the foundations and base. Does anybody know how they value a property that isn't yet built. The waiting is killing me.

    Another Halifax waiter, welcome! :)
  • Broker just called to say Halifax agreed our case and survey instructed yay! Basically means if the house if worth the money we have the mortgage (fingers crossed!). My broker said it is all good and not to worry so much now (easier said than done as I won't feel happy until I have the offer in writing!). Little yes ticks as my boyfriend and I say and this is another! Less stressed today already:D

    Great news :)
  • So after sending in all the extra information natwest have requested and convincing myself that they would turn down my application I've just received a call to say my application has move to evaluation. They will be booking it later today. Still a way to go but I feel it's a huge step in the right direction
    :j :j :j
Really hope everyone is having a great Tuesday
  • Hopefully today will be a positive day for everyone! Small steps but at least we all seem to be moving one step closer to getting what we want ;)

Laura, you've now got me thinking that mine should come through today as my valuation was a few hours after yours! If I haven't heard by 1pm i'm calling the broker!
