How long have you been waiting and who is the mortgage application with? I'm starting to get anxious as I havent heard anything yet about valuation or next steps for a week or so with Leeds whereas when I applied with Nationwide they would text updates regularly..

This is the third week since application with Natwest.

    Have they instructed the valuation?

Not yet - hopefully the instruction will take place this week.
  • Well I had an update from my nice mortgage advisor. The lender needed the payslips received for the time between now and when the application was submitted. My take on this is that it is positive news. It has not been declined and is being processed. I hope this optimism is not misplaced.
  • My timeline for Nationwide mortgage offer
    14/2 1st Viewing
    17/2 DIP from Nationwide
    21/2 property reserved (new build)
    26/2 full application submitted
    27/2 valuation booked
    04/03 mortgage offer received

I applied using a broker even tho I had already decided on a Nationwide mortgage 2.99 fixed for 5 years, using a broker I saved myself a lot of time by avoiding booking appointment in branch and spending hours in interviews, I could complete almost everything by email.

Very very fast and no further documents requested by Nationwide, I bank with Nationwide, so guess that helps.

I included 3 payslips, P60, annual bonus payslips, 1 bank statement, source of deposit statement and copy of passport.

I seem to be addicted to these forums also! and checking the E-mail every 20 minutes from 9am :rotfl:

Ours has been longer than 4 weeks but we are a complex case with the way my husband is paid.

I really am about to sound sooooo dramatic but I think I will combust if I have to wait longer than the 4 weeks. I really need to find a hobby other than wine drinking.....

Im with you on the checking emails and mobile - Every call I get I nearly jump out of my skin and ive got a long wait ahead. Oh dear...........

    Hi,

I would like to join, reading this thread has given me comfort that there're people in the same boat as me.

Heres where me and my partner are....
    17.01.2015 viewed property
    23.01.2015 met with mortgage advisor
    31.01.2015 second viewing
02.02.2015 mortgage declined with Virgin Money
10.02.2015 offer made on property, as someone else had made an offer
24.02.2015 mortgage declined with Virgin Money again
    27.02.2015 DIP with Barclays
    27.02.2015 offer accecpted on property
02.03.2015 full mortgage application sent via broker

This is the most nerve racking thing I have ever done, Barclays say I'll have a decision within 2 weeks. Good luck everyone, fingers crossed

    just an update from me
03.03.2015 sent bank statements and payslips via MA, she told me that the valuation had been instucted
04.03.2015 needed a more upto date bank statement from me, as my statements go from the 16th to the 16th of each month and my rent goes out from the 18th (thats what they wanted to see) sent my MA a print out of my internet banking showing this, she sent that off. In the evening I noticed Barcays had taken money out of my account for valuation.
05.03.2015 has a text message to say, my mortgage offer is in the post.

so nervous now, I hope its what we have offered!!! I want to know now!!!

I have to say that I have been impressed with Barclays (may feel differently if they dont lend me what I have offered lol) and how quick this has been we needed this done by tomorrow as my MA is starting a new job elsewhere.

Offer made and accepted on house - 02/02/2015
Skip forward 4 weeks waiting for vendor to find a new home.....
Were informed chain is complete - 02/03/2015
Put in full mortgage application - 03/03/2015

    Update to the above:

Well, was back to the drawing board two weeks ago. Our previous purchase fell through on the day of exchange. Seller pulled out.

We then went to look at some new builds to "rule them out" and decided this is for us, so put a deposit down. So had to start from the beginning, luckily we had moved out of ours and completed so are currently at the inlaws!!

    So our timeline:
23/01/2015 - Complete on sale of ours and move into inlaws
06/02/2015 - Expected exchange date on prior house-falls through
07/02/2015 - Put deposit down on completed new build
10/02/2015 - Contact L&C to sort out mortgage, require new one!!
15/02/2015 - Week of changing address to temp address for FMA
17/02/2015 - DIP with Abbey (Santander)
20/02/2015 - FMA submitted to Abbey
23/02/2015 - Documents requested and sent same day
    24/02/2015 - Valuation ordered for 02/03/2015
02/03/2015 - Valuer could not be arsed to come and value so rebooking with another valuer!! - Fun!!

So anxious it is unreal, can't sleep or concentrate at work. Terrified this one will fall through, it's an amazing house. All I can think about is mortgages!!

    !Positive mental attitude!
    Update:

05/03/2015 - Valuation done, hopefully all OK! nail biting!!

    Our FTB story so far:

28th Jan - Viewed house and put in offer
    29th Jan - Offer accepted
4th Feb - Full application submitted to Natwest
10th Feb - Application approved verbally subject to survey
13th Feb - Money taken for survey
20th Feb - Survey takes place
23rd Feb - Survey comes back as less than our offer
25th Feb - Renegotiate price of property and adjust mortgage product accordingly.
28th Feb - Find out Natwest are missing product code for revised application and they need it to proceed.
2nd March - Product code given (even though it was given last week too) and a decision to be given "within 24 hours"

I'm getting to that point where I'm starting to doubt whether we'll ever get that magical offer letter through the post, it just seems to be dragging on and on! Please please please, let's hope they're true to their word and I'll know for sure tomorrow!

    Update:
4th March - Told mortgage offer was sent out first class
5th March - Offer DIDN'T arrive in the post.

Hoping it will come tomorrow, if it truly was sent first class then surely it will? Have to say no overly impressed with Natwest so far, it's all been a bit slow and vague. Anyone else have any experience of first class offers not being next day?
