31/1/15 Sold our house. It had been on the market for 10 months so our DIP had long since expired. We had also stopped looking for somewhere to buy as everywhere that we liked had sold and we were stuck waiting for ours to sell.
12/2/15 Had an appointment to discuss mortgage application at Cumberland BS.
26/2/15 Cumberland BS told us that we failed their affordability checks
4/3/15 Appointment with broker who was very confident we could borrow what we needed to buy our forever home.
5/3/15 Offer accepted, solicitor instructed and appt made with broker to make full application.0 -
25/2 full application went in
3/3 partners flat due to exchange and complete
5/3 valuation booked.
Biting nails. This is after making countless offers, loosing 2 places and lloyds messing up one of my accounts and delaying us being able to apply. 6 months of hell. Fingers crossed everyone.
Valuation all fine yesterday, now waiting to see if we get the offer!0 -
Well, was back to the drawing board two weeks ago. Our previous purchase fell through on the day of exchange. Seller pulled out.
We then went to look at some new builds to "rule them out" and decided this is for us, so put a deposit down. So had to start from the beginning, luckily we had moved out of ours and completed so are currently at the inlaws!!
So our timeline:
23/01/2015 - Complete on sale of ours and move into inlaws
06/02/2015 - Expected exchange date on prior house-falls through
07/02/2015 - Put deposit down on completed new build
10/02/2015 - Contact L&C to sort out mortgage, require new one!!
15/02/2015 - Week of changing address to temp address for FMA
17/02/2015 - DIP with Abbey (Santander)
20/02/2015 - FMA submitted to Abbey
23/02/2015 - Documents requested and sent same day
24/02/2015 - Valuation ordered for 02/03/2015
02/03/2015 - Valuer could not be arsed to come and value so rebooking with another valuer!! - Fun!!
05/03/2015 - Valuation done, hopefully all OK! nail biting!!
So anxious it is unreal, can't sleep or concentrate at work. Terrified this one will fall through, it's an amazing house. All I can think about is mortgages!!
!Positive mental attitude!
Update:
06/03/2015 - Just had word from L&C that an offer has been issued. Will be watching the postman like a hawk now0 -

All the waiting is driving me nuts and I am eating, sleeping, drinking mortgages at the moment. I need to hear something back this week or I'll definitely go mad!
YES YES YES! Finally!!!:T:j:beer:
Got email from my broker to say we have been offered the mortgage and should be in the post! I am happy, but totally drained. Now on to the business of getting my act together. I'm meant to be moving end of this month!!0 -
My timeline so far
4/2 1st Viewing
20/2 2nd viewing
21/2 offer accepted
21/2 AIP (I already had one but this mortgage was cheaper)
25/2 full application submitted
26/2 application fee and top up for homebuyers report taken
2/3 request for more info about current address and wanted to know landlords details (good job I've already talked to them)
4/3 another request for some more information (on some transactions on my bank statement) and the news that the survey is booked for Friday
6/3 Surveyor just got back to me and the valuation was good. Had the Homebuyers report as well and apart from an issue with damp and the roof in the utility room it looks like its all good."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger

Anyone currently applying with Nationwide?
Our broker submitted our application on the 26th Feb. We got the text from Nationwide saying it had been submitted. Then the survey was done Wednesday 04/03. I got a text yesterday (05/03) saying they had received the valuation report, and one literally in the same minute saying the valuation report was approved, and they will be in touch again soon. Nothing as yet! We've got a relatively straight forward mortgage application. We both work permanent full time jobs and we can well afford the mortgage payments the broker quoted after the DIP, we've saved a 5% deposit and have another 10% on Help to Buy. So its a 75% LTV mortgage.
Its so scary!! Has anyone applied recently and know if there's a backlog/long wait for the actual offer?0 -

oooh thanks! So I can probably give up checking my phone between now and Monday? I take it I'm not going to get anything over the weekend?0

I have no idea if that team might be on overtime this weekend. I suspect not, as the cases seem to be working their way through the system quite nicely at the moment.
