Why would any broker suggest someone goes direct to a lender which would accept business from the broker?I am a mortgage broker. I already had a very good idea of the mortgage options available to me. The broker said that because the LTV was so low (35%), and mortgage loan amount was about 80k, they said they'd struggle to justify their fee of approx £300. Especially as the product I wanted was a "Flexclusive" which apparently is not available to brokers, as I understand it.
I was grateful for their honesty - made sense to me.0 -
Ah. Now I understand.
You wanted a product they couldn't arrange and they wouldn't make enough money to make it worthwhile convincing you...I am a mortgage broker. Mortgage application submitted 28.11.14
Valuation done and report back 05.12.14
Waiting for an offer
Very stressful waiting. We'd ideally like to give notice on our rental property on 21.12.14 as it is our six month break out clause. Fingers firmly crossed. Am starting to have sleepless nights...0 -

We are in the process of applying for our first mortgage.
Few complications, my boyfriend started a new job on 08/12/14 on a temporary, one year contract (should be made permanent). Applying for a 95% LTV mortgage. Around £2300 in credit card debt, no other commitments.
25/11 - Viewed our property for the first time
26/11 - First contact with L&C, asked to call back when we've agreed an offer, DIP emailed (no credit checks)
29/11 - Second viewing of property
01/12 - First offer put to EA, rejected
06/12 - Offer accepted on property
08/12 - Second contact with L&C to start mortgage application
09/12 - Best and only deal really is with the Halifax
09/12-11/12 - Sending a range of payslips, bank statements etc
11/12 - L&C contacted us to inform us we've passed credit check, needed some additional documents to process to valuation! We also got access to our mortgage case online through L&C
11/12 - Money taken for valuation (homebuyer)0
