I would imagine the valuation is going to be the longest part of it - would I get a text saying "Approval subject to valuation" quickly or is the valuation done first?

If so, I'm guessing a rejection means goodbye to the valuation fee ha!
No. The valuation fee is refundable upto the point the inspection is carried out.

You don't get "approval subject to valuation."

Nationwide normally instructs valuer on receipt of application. The text/email updates are;-

    product booked/application submitted
    valuation instructed/valuation booking date
    valuation received
    valuation approved
    offer issued.

18/11/13 Employment questioned and more enquiries raised with the broker. (I am an IT Umbrella Contractor). I don't even know what possible can they require as I have given all the documents under the sun and according to their own criteria, the employment should be ok.

Waiting to have a chat with my broker, to be honest I don't know what to do next, can't find words for how frustrating this feels.

Is your broker a contractor specialist? Any Nationwide cases we ever do (not many as a contractor specialist!) we always make sure that our BDM sees things through for us because they really aren't all that contractor friendly.

Which umbrella company do you use?

Great - Already the first problem.

Broker calls me last night to take payment of £285 for the Valuation (product fee of £499 was to go on the loan).

Check my bank this morning and £784 has been taken.

I'm assuming he's put through the payment including the product fee... Grrr

EDIT: Going to post this as a separate topic...

    Waiting to exchange?

Our mortgage offer sent on Tuesday this week. We've had 6 enquiries through from buyers solicitor which we answered. Searches are done by all too.

I don't think our offer has landed with our solicitor yet so guessing all systems go when it does.

  • Will join this as mortgage advisor just told me underwriter assessing case now and decision in 30 mins.

DIP approved its final section pre-survey after receiving all documents!

I am on tender hooks as last year got rejected 4 times due to previous credit history which is now wiped clean!

Its killing me not knowing and being in the hands of someone else!

    Fingers crossed people!
