FA just called all my income was accepted, just just waiting on the mortg valuation now, taking place today, decision expected next Monday, this Friday if I'm really lucky. So far so good.

I haven't had to submit any payslips at all, they just accepted letter from my employer which i thought was strange, last time there were heaps of checks.

    I can join now! :j

Submitted full mortgage application today via IFA, he is hopeful we should have the mortgage offer within two weeks. Apparently because I sent him pretty much every piece of documentation they could ever ask for, it should be quick.

He thinks we might be in the house by end of November. We are FTB, currently living in a rented first floor flat.

We are buying a shared ownership house. It's a two bed semi detached new build. All the rooms are huge, well compared to our flat they are huge. It has a private driveway for four cars and it has a massive garden! It's been so long since I had a garden!

Apparently the plot/house we are purchasing was on land which was originally intended to have three houses (terrace), but they couldn't fit the third in so it became a semi-detached and both plots got double sized gardens and bigger driveways. We have looked at the other houses on the estate and the terrace houses do have significantly smaller gardens and only room for two cars.

Plus its in a really nice quiet area, closer to work and family.

    SO EXCITED!

No, no valuation fee has been taken yet and we haven't heard anything from Nationwide.
The dip was accepted straight away, I'm sure the broker mentioned she could upload the docs before we got the help to buy approval, that has only come through today so maybe she has to wait for that before she can put in the full app, I'm not sure.

I did email her today and she just said she would continue to chase them up and let us know when there is any news!
They only deal with new build so I'm hoping they know what they are doing
They haven't submitted the application yet.

They may be waiting for the ATP, if that has only arrived today.

They may be waiting for the docs to be confirmed acceptable, before they submit. TBH that would be a bit odd on an "accept" unless they thought there might be an issue with something.

Until the full app is submitted, the valuation fee isn't paid and the valuer isn't instructed.

As a Nationwide offer is six months and can only be extended for two weeks, are they holding off submitting because the completion date of the property is only just within six months?

  • Hi All,

We're getting quite worried now, with no information to go off.

We had our DIP from Halifax mid-September and a valuation done on a new build on 2nd October. The valuation was all ok, and the house was valued at full asking price.

Since then everything seems to have stopped. Our contact at the Lloyds Banking Group hasn't given us any further information about the hold-up, other than he's getting someone to look into it.

We were supposed to have exchanged on Monday, but without the full offer we can't do anything!!

Has this happened to anyone else? Or Kingstreet - can you shed any light? We've not gone through a broker, just direct as our current mortgage is with the Halifax too (out of original tie in so no ERC to pay).

I'm just so worried that they are going to reject us! Surely an acceptance after DIP and valuation would be quicker?

    18/9/14 - DIP
    23/9/14 - First viewing
24/9/14 - Made an offer (our dream property, we couldn't believe we had found it!)
    24/9/14: Offer accepted

29/9/14: Halifax requested more documents (bank statements) to support application. Documents requested from our bank.
    6/10/14: Valuation takes place
7/10/14: The last of the supporting documents sent to Halifax.
8/10/14: Bank statements we sent were not sufficient, more statements requested from Natwest.
9/10/2014: Valuation report received in post. All okay.

15/10/14: Broker emailed to say that mortgage offer has been raised today!!! She should receive a copy later today or tomorrow to check over and make sure everything is okay.

Getting seriously fed up now. We are going into our 7th week of waiting for our mortgage to be approved.

Its been with the underwriter for 6 days, they requested an extra piece of info 5 days ago, we didn't get told until 2 days ago and then it was only because I was chasing it up. We sent in what was needed that day and its still not gone back to the underwriter yet!! Ive been told the mortgage advisor is going to ring me since friday but still waiting for a phone call.

All they have to do is add a middle initial for my husband and have known since friday they needed to do it and its still not been done this morning!!! So fed up I want to scream!!!!

Been told when it gets sent back to the underwriter its going to be another 3-5 days, they are really taking the !!!! now!!

If a middle name was missed off the application, it has to be amended and the case re-credit scored to ensure no adverse credit information is revealed.

Overall seven weeks is pathetic and we would be out of business if we allowed our cases to drag on like that.

Check your offer when it arrives.

Talk to your solicitor and tell them to proceed with the searches if they haven't already done so.

The mortgage stuff is done now, it's over to the solicitor to do the legal work.

    Thanks Kingstreet.
I spoke to the solicitor a little while ago to inform her that the mortgage offer will be on its way to her.

The broker has told us that she expects it to take 3-4 weeks due to the fact that there's no chain involved with either party and we're all eager to exchange/complete as soon as possible. Surely it can't be that quick?

Will they just have to credit check my husband again then or will they do both of us? I hope they are quick. It seems they have one pace that is appallingly slow.
