So our mortgage application is with virgin. They are awaiting environmental searches before advising whether they will offer or not.

Before we decided to go with virgin we also had an aip with nationwide which is still valid. I have just noticed that nationwide a rates are reduced now (3.99 compared to 4.39 with virgin).

My question is if we now did full app with nationwide would it cause problems? It would result in another full credit check which I guess could be refused because of the credit check virgin have done?

It would be a saving of £34 a month on the repayments.
    Not sure what to do!

Presumably going to be an extra cost then and no guarantee that they will give us the mortgage offer after with then 😒

Solicitor is putting in the request for the environmental search today. Trying to find info on contaminated land in the area where the bungalow we want to buy is but it's proving difficult!! Solicitor also said that on the deeds they have there is a petroleum pipe running under the property so they need to query that and whether it's active or not!

My other half parents live just up the road from where we are buying on the same estate and apparently some of the houses there used to have oil heating years ago. There is also a petrol station nearby!

I just hope the environmental search is ok and virgin accept it and offer us a mortgage!

Prob another 2 or so weeks til I can find out now
