Following a horrendous time with the Nationwide (submitting an application for HTB 20% equity loan on an existing property following an advised mortgage meeting in branch and then me phoning them up after reading online this wasn't possible to question it and them apologising and cancelling application!) we now have the following:
+ Hired a broker (best decision we made in this process)
29/08/14 - AIP
02/09/14 - Full Application Submitted
05/09/14 - Valuation Instructed
Awaiting to hear about the date of the valuation now.
With Santander, do they only proceed to valuation after underwriting, or is this something they do whilst still performing checks?
I now totally understand why people say buying a house is the most stressful thing you can do. But it'll be totally worth it. Hang in there everyone!0 -

Thanks Kingstreet.
Can't encourage people who are FTB enough to instruct a broker if they're not sure what they are doing or they are in need of a quick process. Ours has been totally invaluable and the advice has been so much clearer than the advice we received in branch at a high street lender.0 -
Full app was submitted on 22/08
Valuation carried out on 01/09
Currently under review by underwriters since 03/09

Is this with Santander or Nationwide?
Our application with Santander was submitted on 1st September but we haven't been informed about a valuation yet. We did get a call from someone on the 5th September from our mortgage advisors asking us to discuss mortgage protection now our mortgage application had 'progressed'. I'm not sure what to make of this?-- Teacher of Art, Product Design & Graphic Design -- Graphic Designer -- Product Designer -- Bona fide Sci-Fi nerd and Techie! --0 -

Our mortgage application is with Abbey/Santander.
I'm not sure what this means either, I'd suggest asking your MA to clarify.0 -
Hi everyone!
I'm waiting on a mortgage appointment on Wednesday to send our application after having offer on house accepted on Saturday.
I feel physically sick as there is so much that could do wrong and we are in unusual circumstances as my OH has only just started his job on the first of September having been a student previously and so we have no proof of income except a contract. We also have a credit card and a car loan! I am convinced we will be refused and don't want to get my hopes up at all.
Good luck to everyone awaiting a decision!
Can I ask what happens if you pay for valuation and mortgage application is refused? Can you wait until you hear about the application before paying for survays etc?0 -
Awaiting decision, full application (revised) was submitted by our Nationwide mortgage adviser on Thursday 4th Sept @ 4pm.
