5th August - Sent over bank statements (which im sure i already sent to Which? Mortgage advisors)
8th August - Gone to full first assessment with underwriter

Have been told by Leeds that it can take up to 3 working days to hear on the first assessment so should hear something Wednesday hopefully.

12th August - Caved and rang Leeds, told that our broker will hear something tomorrow AM so fingers crossed!

12th August - Solicitor rang to say they have received the contracts and they are very simple and straightforward! (glad something is) but means nadda if i don't get a mortgage i suppose.

Well Done, chuffed for you :)

I was supposed to hear today but all I got was a text to say that the valuation had been received and I would be contacted if any further information is required :(
  • Hi all,

I'll join all of you waiting - FTB here too! SO and everything going okay, impatiently awaiting mortgage offer! We have a tight deadline for exchange to get incentives so it's a very stressful time. Partner hasn't actually started his new job yet which is complicating things as Halifax are requesting his reference letter be resent multiple times... Thankfully going through a broker so not dealing direct!

1/8 - Full application submitted (Halifax)
6/8 - Informed that new job reference is needed by fax, reference sent same day
12/8 - Find out reference hasn't been received!! New employer failed to include reference number which has lost us precious days... Halifax survey done and no problems so at least some positive news!

    Watch this space...
  • I have just completed on my first property with Nationwide and they were FANTASTIC! Mortgage offer was with me after 8 working days! Couldn't have been more straightforward!

Good luck and try not to worry - Although I suffered heart palpitations and had many a sleepless night!!:rotfl:

Thank you so much, we've had one complication but this was due to mis-advertisement and generally estate agent not knowing what hes talking about, but nationwide were brilliant at adjusting application !

And our survey was carried out today :j

    Hi all guess Ill join,

    were first time buyers :)

29/07: second viewing off flat, both love it.
30/07: first offer refused , offered asking and it was accepted.
    31/07: DIP from nationwide
    05/08: Full application with nationwide
    05/08 : solicitor instructed
07/08: call from nationwide to confirm how long fianc!e been with current employer as it was showing as unknown on application (??) he been with same employer since leaving school 8 years ago so no problems there :)

Everything has moved so quickly !!

Also, does anybody have any experience with nationwide applications ?? as think me worrying about mortgages is starting to annoy everyone including other half :

    thank you !

Hi all, update we've had one slight problem (see below) but everything still moving so quickly:

08/08: Call from solicitor to say she has discovered flat is in fact leasehold and not share of freehold which it was advertised as, angry call to EA, who had spoke in great length about the benefit of share of freehold on viewings, he realised he had confused this property with another he was marketing. Call to in- branch mortgage advisor who dealt with it fantastically, no major problem. On the whole not to bothered as it has very long lease and we will need to move to bigger place when we start to have kids !

12/08: survey carried out, awaiting response.

12/08: solicitor applies for LA searches, fingers crossed council are on the ball.

    good luck to everyone :)

Yes, we have a BTL property that we used to live in (if we sold it we would have a couple of grand left after paying off the mortgage and fees so we're better off renting it out - as long as people pay the rent!), and we moved so are trying to buy somewhere down South now.

On our bank statements, Nationwide are specifically looking for credit from the letting agents we deal with so I'm not sure how this would help.

Ah ok. I didn't realise the lenders would be that forensic in looking for lettings agent rental payment, on your BTL, on the statements.

    Good luck.

Our AIP from halifax has been referred. Any reasons why this could be?

Totally agree! You need some good news and a yes on the mortgage, i would have gone insane! Wow when you get those keys it will feel amazing though! fingers crossed x

Thanks Merkat and Thelaughingcat. Well got good news finally on monday evening from the broker saying that he had just received a call direct from the under-writer and that everything had been finally cleared and they were proceeding to offer. My broker has stated that it should be done but don't believe anything till you get your copy in the post. Which i am hoping is today:)

So finally pleased that the mortgage side is (fingers crossed all sorted now). Now on to the conveyancing which started from scratch last week with searches only being started 2 days ago, so I'm hoping within 3 weeks MAX we are exchanging and completing soon after as if we do not our mortgage offer would no longer be valid as my contract ends and my wife is changing jobs :/

    Timeline

Decision in principle with Natwest via broker 10th june

    Full application: 20th July

Valuation finally ordered 15th July after various hold ups with valuation payment on Natwests end:

Valuation completed and forwarded to natwest 16th July

21st July final checks should have been completed and thus multiple issues regarding ID validity and legibility ensued. Added to this my conveyancer got intervened by SRA and shut down so everything on that side had to start again.

12th August: Mortgage offer should be in post

Thats just over a 2 month period from DIP to Full offer (thats if i actually receive it in the post). Will Update.

Thats just over a 2 month timeline

Its just a relief now, but now we can stress about the next bit. We have even allowed ourselves to start eying up furnishings on the internet. :D

Hope everyone else's application that i have been following the past month goes well. Seems to be a pretty decent success rate on these forums. I guess we are the type of people who care enough to research so the odds are already in our favour than those flying blind.

Just to clarify if i and gone direct to Natwest or any main stream lender i would have been declined due to my seasonal employment and at the time my wifes lack of permanent visa. So anyone who has even a slightly not straight forward case i would advise going to a broker.

Thanks for the quick reply! :) I know the feeling though, I would be happy with something like an daily e-mail update even if it said "No news as of yet" then at least I would know it hadn't been forgotten about. It's driving me and the Mrs insane :rotfl:

I will let you know what the outcome of the telephone call with Santander is. Thanks!

Welp, I didn't get back quite as soon as I had hoped but here is an update!

I got a call from my broker when I got home to tell me that everything has been "Agreed" with the application and Santander are now instructing a valutation on the property. we apparently will know next week what the outcome of that is.

    Fingers crossed! :)
